MRC Vice President of Business and Culture Dan Gainor recently called out the liberal media for coming unglued after President Donald Trump criticized the media’s coverage of him during a February press conference.
“The media have been kicking sand in the face of the American public for decades going after every Republican who rose to the fore” Gainor said on Feb. 17, during an appearance on Fox Business Network’s Intelligence Report with Trish Regan.
Now that Trump is standing up to the media, “they’re aghast, they can’t deal with it” Gainor told Regan.
Regan chided CNN for complaining that Trump doesn’t take them seriously but then tweeted a video mocking Trump’s press conference.
“They’re torn between saying ‘oh, we’re professional!’ and then mocking the president and saying ‘Oh, well he’s not professional,” Gainor responded.
Gainor then argued that the media and the “inside the beltway people are upset” about how Trump conducted the press conference, but “ordinary Americans think this is great.”
“The media isn’t going to give him any credit for anything” Regan said, “why not fire back, right?” Gainor agreed and added that “if [Trump] backs off now, they’ll say he finally caved to the media.”
Instead of the media focusing on how well the stock market is doing, Gainor said the media is hung up on whether Trump is “talking to the Christian Broadcast Network or FOX instead of AP and ABC. So, you know, they’re focused on their privilege and not the rights and, frankly, the needs of the American public.”
