From carefully planned interviews to actual protests, Hollywood is doing its very best to thwart President Trump’s State of the Union speech.
Wealthy, over-privileged actors and actresses have decided to give what they think is a more accurate depiction of the state of the union. Mark Ruffalo, organizing a “star-studded counter-event”, told People Magazine that his protest would be “a better reflection of our state of the union based on a more populist point of view, based on the people’s point of view.”
His scheme, to present a “better reflection,” includes director Michael Moore, Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez, Wanda Sykes, and Cynthia Nixon. What a great representation of what America really is.
Ruffalo continued, “I think it’s important because we have a president who has a difficult time with the truth, who has a radical, divisive agenda, and spends an enormous amount of time focusing on the negative and hopelessness and despair.”
Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel decided to book porn star Stormy Daniels -- who may or may not have had an affair with Trump -- for an interview immediately after the State of the Union speech. In a tweet, Kimmel announced, “the very gifted Stormy Daniels will be on Kimmel Tuesday 1/30 after the State of the Union. I have MANY QUESTIONS! #MAGA.” The adult actress has profited a lot since her story has come out, launching a new tour “Make America Horny Again.” Classy.
Actress Alyssa Milano announced that she will “host what she’s calling resist and persist counter programming,” during the address itself. “State of the Dream” will present “brief videos from Americans describing their dreams for the country.” The actress, who has claimed her efforts are “non-partisan,” tweeted in her announcement that the “State of the Dream” will “express our vision for a more inclusive, progressive America.”
Hollywood really needs to get a life.
