On the day of the annual March for Life, Conservative lawmakers re-committed themselves to the fight for the right to life for millions of unborn children endangered by legal abortion.
As January 29’s March For Life comes during a time when political forces are marshaling to achieve their pro-abortion goals for America, prominent pro-lifers including Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), Representative Steve Scalise (R-LA) and others, are spreading the good news of life on social media to millions of pro-life Americans.
With the Biden-Harris administration wielding executive orders to roll back pro-life policies put in by a previous pro-life administration only a day earlier and flexing their commitment to protecting the right to abortion with federal law, Cruz and other lawmakers stood confident and trusting in the knowledge that the American people stand by unborn life. They told pro-lifers they were committed as ever to restoring a “culture of life in America.”
Prior to the march (which opted for a virtual format this year due to COVID and heightened security protocols on Capitol Hill), Cruz sent a video message addressing the millions of virtual marchers on Twitter. “Though we are unable to march together in Washington D.C today, millions across America will pause today and pay tribute to the millions of innocent lives lost to abortion,” the senator said. Cruz also thanked everyone who had planned on marching for “championing life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for every American including the unborn.”
The pro-life lawmaker said he felt “honored,” “now more than ever,” to stand with pro-life Americans for the fight “to restore the culture of life in America.”
Today, Americans across the country will @March_for_Life and pay tribute to over 60 million innocent lives lost to abortion. I’m honored to stand united with y’all and to fight with you to restore a culture of life in America. #ChooseLife #ProLife #WhyWeMarch pic.twitter.com/RS5b2WrTPE

An hour prior to the virtual March, House Minority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) slammed President Biden’s reversal of the pro-life Mexico City policy -- which allows U.S. tax dollars to fund overseas abortion programs -- and demonstrated it as a reason the March for life is important. “It took Biden less than 48 hours to announce extreme executive action to promote abortion,” Scalise tweeted, adding, “That's #WhyWeMarch.”
The representative also touted his re-introduction of a Born Alive bill that has been blocked by Democrats in congress for two years. He wrote, “That's why I just re-introduced the life-saving Born Alive Act with @RepAnnWagner that Pelosi has been blocking for nearly two years. We won't stop fighting for Life.”

House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) slammed the Biden administration’s pro-abortion extremism and urged pro-lifers to march against it. He tweeted, “The new administration has already shown its willingness to disregard unity and promote abortion at home and abroad. Now is the time for us to make our voices heard to protect the most innocent among us.”
“Life is precious. Life is worth protecting. Life unites. #whywemarch,” the congressman added.

And Representative Debbie Lesko (R-AZ) reminded Twitter users that protecting unborn children is one of the “fundamental issues” the country faces. The Republican lawmaker claimed, “Every life is a precious and sacred gift. Protecting the sanctity of life is one of the most fundamental issues our nation faces, and I am proud to fight for the right to life for unborn babies.”

When the rights of millions of unborn children are unprotected in the country, each and every lawmaker should be fighting tooth and nail for some sense of justice. It is tragic that there are just a relative few fighting to protect the lives of the unborn, but we are grateful for their leadership nonetheless.
