ESPN First Take screecher Stephen A. Smith really ruffled the feathers of a fellow black leftist when he mentioned that he could possibly run for POTUS. He “lost his damn mind,” writes Deadspin blogger Carron J. Phillips. Plus, we’ve already had a clown masquerading as president, one who put us in the mess we’re in now.
Last week, as a guest on the Paul Finebaum show, Smith said he has no desire to be a politician, but also commented:
If I thought I could win, yeah! But when I see some of the things that has transpired, I can honestly tell you that even though that answer would still be no … if enough people came to me and said to me, ‘Stephen A., you have a legitimate shot to win the presidency of the United States of America,’ I would strongly, strongly consider running.
Finebaum and Smith laughed about the comments, but Phillips didn't. “This shit isn’t funny,” cool or comical, he raged. Phillips also blasted Smith for “thinking you have the talent, intellect, testicular fortitude, and the unmitigated gall to not only think that you are what America wants, or needs, but that you have the answers.”
The possibility of an ESPN host becoming commander-in-chief strikes fear into Phillips, as if another Trump or Reagan would occupy the Oval Office:
Despite what some think the Oval Office has become, given that it was occupied by a clown who was masquerading as the 45th president, it’s still the most important job on the planet. We’ve already had an actor in Ronald Reagan play that role, and it led to the first version of ‘Make America Great Again’ and multiple legislations and ideologies that took decades for black and brown people to overcome — which was the blueprint that Trump followed to a T.
America is still reeling from a reality TV star beating the “the person with the best resume that’s ever run for president — Hillary Clinton — all because the electoral college is outdated, racism has peaked and because white women chose their race over their gender,” Phillips wrote.
Phillips says Smith would be ill-equipped handling abortion, women’s rights, voter suppression, gun rights, affirmative action, policing, student loan debt, global viruses, Supreme Court Justice nominees, and Brittney Griner’s imprisonment. Not making the list of serious concerns is cleaning up all that Joe Biden has mucked up.
The last person America “took a risk” by electing, Donald Trump, is being investigated by the FBI, too. As was the brilliant Hillary Clinton – for using a personal server for classified documents. Thanks to former FBI director/stooge James Comey, she escaped prosecution on that and a few other scandals, too.
Phillips basically advises Smith to leave presidential aspirations to those who can actually make a mess of all the problems that Trump righted. “This is their livelihood, not something that would be a career change just because they may be tired of arguing with Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo or Tim Tebow every week,” Phillips advised.
So, Stephen A., “stay off the weed,” Phillips says, hoping Biden’s successor will be just as incompetent as the current president.
