That guy making sensible points on Fox News’s Jesse Watters Primetime Monday, warning of a progressive agenda, sure looked a lot like ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith. But it couldn’t really be the loud-mouth lefty from First Take fame … could it? Yes it was. Wonders never cease!
Smith is doing a media tour to hype his new podcast, Know Mercy, and he had previously appeared on Fox with Sean Hannity. Then he ripped into Bill and Hillary Clinton. This time, on Fox News with Jesse Watters, Smitty expressed serious concern about an “extremely progressive agenda” and a crime wave in major metro areas:
“There is no question that a lot of these issues need to be addressed. There is no question that we should be against an extremely progressive agenda that’s calling for people to be released from prison on multiple occasions. That’s ignoring a lot of crime that’s taking place in the streets.”
From working in New York and a recent visit to Los Angeles, Smith spoke of his concern for safety in those two huge cities. He said he would not want his family traveling on a New York subway at night. “The New York subway system … you are damn right I got a problem with that.”
ESPN’s star personality took on California Gov. Gavin Newsom for the messes in his state, too.:
“I was in LA [last week] and saw the homelessness that existed. I got an issue with that. Certainly, when you look at Gavin Newsom and some of the policies that he’s put forth ... you’re talking about a lot of different things that need to be addressed.”
Lest anyone think the new Rush Limbaugh has arrived on the scene, Stephen A. returned to his ESPN persona. He did so by praising dimwitted Vice President Kamala Harris.
Watters asked Smith if "Real Time" host Bill Maher was right when he said Joe President Joe Biden should replace Harris as his running mate in 2024. She is a "bad politician" after all. Very, very bad.
“Believe it or not, I think that she’s a highly intelligent woman [who] unfortunately doesn’t have an opportunity to showcase it,” Smith said.
Watters replied to Smith that Harris has "the second-biggest job in the country. She hasn’t got the opportunity?"
Smith defended the VP by saying other people are pulling the strings for this administration, and she’s been reduced to following their marching orders. "Ultimately, it comes down to her. I can’t absolve her from accountability. You asked for that seat. You are in that seat. I dig she needs to do a better job, no doubt about it."
Smith said Harris is being encouraged to keep her mouth shut, so she just laughs off serious questions.:
"A lot of times I’m looking at Kamala Harris and I'm just saying, ‘you are a highly intelligent and accomplished woman. Will you tell us what you truly, truly think instead of giggling all the dang time, every time somebody asks you a question?’ She can bring a lot if she, as far as I’m concerned, I believe, had the freedom to truly, truly speak her mind and be as raw and authentic as she wants to be.
Much has been made of ESPN following the radical, woke agenda demanded by its parent company, Disney. On Monday night, we got to find out what Smith really thinks about some issues when he was away from ESPN’s left-wing turf.
