Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant was suspended by his team after video surfaced of him brandishing a pistol in a nightclub in March. The Grizzlies handled Morant’s discipline, but he was allowed to resume playing after serving his minimal punishment.
You would think that level of grace would be enough to motivate Morant not to do something like that again. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.
On Sunday, barely two months after the first incident, Morant was seen on Instagram Live doing the exact same thing. The video has since been deleted, but news of the event still got posted on Twitter.

How stupid can you be?
Even though Morant is completely in the wrong, comedian Andrew Schulz took to Twitter to ask why the NBA star is in trouble in the first place.
If guns are legal why is Ja Morant in trouble?

If he was trying to be funny by asking this question, it was a pretty bad attempt at cracking a joke.
We can’t be sure if Morant got the gun legally. Even if he did, the optics of the whole situation is terrible - he made the exact same mistake twice in a span of two months. Whether Morant likes it or not, he is in the public eye, and you can’t be posting videos of yourself looking like a thug for all to see.
Maybe a stricter punishment is in order to finally get the message through to Morant. But then again, NBA players have a propensity for showing immaturity after multiple rounds of discipline.
