Abortion giant Planned Parenthood is a moral organization that saves lives, according to fans in Hollywood. And no, it’s not “speaking in opposites” day.
On Sunday, Scandal star Tony Goldwyn publicized his support of America’s largest abortion provider. At Paleyfest, an entertainment media conference located in Los Angeles, Goldwyn wore a golden pin for “lifesaving” Planned Parenthood.
Goldwyn elaborated on the “importance” of Planned Parenthood to Glamour.
“There’s been a lot of disinformation about Planned Parenthood and the focus of the lifesaving work that they do for women’s healthcare," Goldwyn insisted. “If Planned Parenthood is defunded, millions of women—particularly women struggling economically—are going to be in serious trouble. And the truth is, there will be far more abortions performed—and unsafe ones as a result. The people that are anti-abortion actually are sabotaging their own moral stance by taking this position.”
Goldwyn clearly doesn’t understand the pro-life position that an unborn baby is a living, human person.
Goldwyn added that a picture of white men meeting at the White House (the Freedom Caucus) to discuss women’s healthcare inspired him to model the pin.
As the magazine’s West Coast entertainment correspondent, Jessica Radloff applauded Goldwyn.
“Not only is Goldwyn right, but there's an added benefit to safe and responsible abortion access,” she praised, adding that women denied abortion are “more likely to experience anxiety and low self-esteem” than women who aren’t.
She defended Planned Parenthood by citing its three percent abortion statistic (debunked by even The Washington Post) and arguing that federal funding is generally barred from abortion (without noting the argument that money is fungible).
For her part, Radloff decided to follow in Goldwyn’s footsteps.
“So keep wearing that pin and speaking out, Tony Goldwyn,” she added. “In the meantime, I'll be over here, buying my own PP pin.”
ABC’s Scandal stars Goldwyn as a fictional president of the United States. Co-star Kerry Washington, who plays crisis manager Olivia Pope in the show, is also a big defender of abortion and Planned Parenthood. In 2015, the political drama series featured not one but two “groundbreaking” abortion scenes – both widely applauded by the liberal media.
“Abortion is a very profound and massive decision ... emotionally,” Goldwyn told the Huffington Post in 2016. At first, he felt “offended personally” by the second abortion scene, where Pope had an abortion without informing his character in the show.
But after a discussion with showrunner Shonda Rhimes, he concluded, “It just was [Olivia’s] choice to make that decision about her life and her body and her relationship.”
