We expect ill-informed and ridiculous things to come out of celebrities' mouths, but even journalists say some really crazy things sometimes. When it comes to talking about the GOP in particular, left-wing media can't help but express their disdain and reveal their bias.
Here are fifteen stupid tweets from the media that came out of last night's debate.
Washington Post journalist Jonathan Capehart claimed that the candidates on stage were too "far right" for Reagan.
The party of Reagan has drifted so far right even the man it reveres would be an unwelcome stranger in it today. http://t.co/aE1xFh1YGr

Elizabeth Plank of Mic News, meanwhile, was upset that global warming wasn’t brought up early on:
More than two hours into the #GOPDebate and climate change has not been mentioned once. #GOPDebate
— Elizabeth Plank (@feministabulous) September 17, 2015
MSNBC host Christopher Hayes, perhaps crying into his sweater again, was seemingly distraught that no one cared about global warming as much as he did:
Ghastly, morally odious, impossibly stupid, unfathomably destructive and shameful. No one will be spared judgment.
— Christopher Hayes (@chrislhayes) September 17, 2015
HBO Real Time host Bill Maher was equally as upset:
20 minutes on valet parkers without I D while flames from wildfires lick the walls of the Reagan library. HOW BOUT A CLIMATE QUESTION?????
— Bill Maher (@billmaher) September 17, 2015
Clearly it's a pressing issue.
Bijan Stephen, Associate Editor of The New Republic, meanwhile wondered why hashtag activism wasn't brought up:
why haven't the candidates talked about #BlackLivesMatter?
— DJ dick dawkins (@bijanstephen) September 17, 2015
Zerlina Maxwell, political analyst, writer for Essence Magazine and Cosmopolitan was similarly aghast:
Questions about Black Lives Matter: 0 #GOPDebate
— Zerlina Maxwell (@ZerlinaMaxwell) September 17, 2015
Katie Couric wanted Fiorina to bring up the tired, age-old "78 cents on the dollar" feminism myth:
But I wish she had gone further and said women should not make 78 cents for every dollar a man makes. #GOPDebate https://t.co/oLqpkApCcK
— Katie Couric (@katiecouric) September 17, 2015
MSNBC host Krystal Ball claimed she knew the "facts" on the problems of the "declining middle class." Hmm, I wonder: Did she look into her crystal ball to figure that one out?
It's so easy to blame all of our problems and a declining middle class on immigrants but there's this tricky thing called facts. #GOPDebate
— Krystal Ball (@krystalball) September 16, 2015
Elizabeth Plank blasted the event crassly as a "sausage fest" and expressed her disdain over Fiorina's comments:
It's hard to see the only woman on a stage that can best be described as a sausage fest, argue that sexism is not a thing. #GOPDebate
— Elizabeth Plank (@feministabulous) September 17, 2015
Some media personalities were more upset at the responses to the question about the Planned Parenthood vids, than they were to the videos themselves:
Carly: I'd urge every American to watch these doctored, heavily edited, manipulated tapes and come to the false conclusion I have!
— Bill Maher (@billmaher) September 17, 2015
Hey, if we’re believing Planned Parenthood sells body parts, why not believe one toke makes an addict?
— Amanda Marcotte (@AmandaMarcotte) September 17, 2015
All these guys want you to believe they’re the OGs of cutting women off from cancer screenings and birth control.
— Amanda Marcotte (@AmandaMarcotte) September 17, 2015
No Chris Christie, you don't get a cookie for saying you're pro-life "even out of the womb." #GOPDebate
— Elizabeth Plank (@feministabulous) September 17, 2015
Maher was more upset about climate change than "Ben Gazi"
Oh fuck, their best friend, Ben Gazi...I can't stand these assholes for one more minute - peace out!
— Bill Maher (@billmaher) September 17, 2015
Overall, this tweet from Bijan Stephen seemed to sum up the attitude of journalists to the debate last night:
i hope all of these candidates get a disease of some kind that is extremely unpleasant but not debilitating / deadly
— DJ dick dawkins (@bijanstephen) September 17, 2015
