Girl Power? Clinton Needs Singer Lovato to Court Young Iowa Women

It wasn’t supposed to be this way.

Hillary Clinton, former co-president, former carpet-bagging New York senator, former Cubs fan-turned-Yankees fan, former jet-setting Secretary of State, she of the gazillion-dollar book deals and multi-gazillion-dollar influence peddling concern … er, philanthropic foundation, the most powerful womanly woman in the world, should be the prohibitive frontrunner for Empress of Everything.

Anyway, that’s what the establishment liberal media told us about the ultimate establishment liberal candidate. But here she was in Iowa Thursday night, speaking for just five minutes and mostly leaving the stage to pop singer Demi Lovato in what CNN called “an effort to win over young women in Iowa.”

“Effort?” To woo women?

Her rock star husband has been neutralized as an asset due to his rock star-sized libido and the damaged women in its wake. She’s dogged by questions about the Clinton Foundation, State Department emails and Benghazi (not to mention about the entire Obama foreign policy she implemented from four years).

More CNN: “After performing her hit song ‘Confident,’ Lovato said: ‘I don't think there's a woman more confident than Hillary Clinton.’” Umm, have you seen the poll numbers, Demi? In Iowa, she’s losing to Sanders (and she’s losing pretty big to him in New Hampshire). Worst of all, Sanders seems to be attracting the youth vote – even the young women vote.

But at least, being a Clinton, she can still count on many, many entertainers like Lovato. And, apparently, lesbians who appreciate her fashion sense. (There may be some overlap there, as Lovato likes to talk about her “sexual fluidity.”)

Still, even some hardcore supporters like Lena Dunham have flinched as they’ve learned about the treatment of Bill Clinton’s female accusers back in the 90s. And Dunham knows a thing or two about false rape allegations.

But liberals being liberals, with power at stake, all will quickly be forgiven. Dunham is performing Lovato’s role for Hillary in New Hampshire. She’s got endorsements from Amy Poehler, Christina Aguilera and America Ferrera and a raft of rappers. And in the end, most of Hollywood will come along.

How can she not win the youth vote? Well, according to CNN, “In Iowa and New Hampshire, Bernie Sanders, her 74-year old primary opponent, is winning nearly 60% of voters under 45 years old. Sanders is beating Clinton 41%-35% among Democratic millennials.”

Ouch.
