John Legend: Lil Wayne, Other Trump-Supporting Rappers ‘Taken In By Lies’

John Legend is living up to his name, but his legacy is being built not on his musical talents, but on a long history of foolishness regarding his political beliefs.

The vocalist sang for Joe Biden’s campaign at a Monday night event, where he denounced Trump, criticized rappers who supported him, and lavished praise upon Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

According to People.com, he said, "Now, some people see the meanness, the bullying, the selfishness of Donald Trump and they mistake it for strength, a kind of twisted masculinity. Some see his greed and they mistake it for being good at business."

Can Legend actually recognize meanness? He didn’t when he vented his anger at Trump’s presidency onto the president’s supporters earlier this year.

Returning to the Monday event, Legend then went on to criticize the rappers who supported Trump. "Some of your former favorite rappers have been taken in by these lies. I think they even founded a new supergroup, it's called the Sunken Place." The Sunken Place is a plot element in the horror film Get Out. It was meant to represent how African-Americans are marginalized in today’s society.

So, if an African-American supports Trump, he automatically endorses marginalization. There’s no other reason why they would vote for Trump.

Naturally, Legend also disapproved of Trump’s plan for the black community. "But Trump's Platinum Plan for Black folks is nothing but fool's gold, because you can't bank on a word he says."

Yet Legend thinks people should bank on what he says in spite of his calls to release criminals from prison in order to lessen their risk of catching COVID-19.

"Ask the students of Trump University,” Legend said. “Ask all of the contractors he stiffed. Ask people his charity was supposed to help before it was shut down for being a fraud. Ask all the Black and Brown Americans who are dying from this virus and losing their jobs under his watch." Ah, the required statement blaming all the coronavirus deaths on Trump. What would leftists do without it?

"The president isn't strong. He's a coward," declared Legend, who himself has considered fleeing the country if Trump is reelected.

Then came the praise for the saviors of America. "We need a president we can trust. That's the kind of president Joe Biden will be. And he won't only reverse the damage of the last four years hand-in-hand with Senator Kamala Harris, they will build back a better economy and country than ever before."

But according to the newspaper Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, “Under Donald Trump the economy, pre-COVID, boomed, like no time since the 1950s. Look at your 401(k) over the past three years. Unemployment for Black Americans is lower than it has ever been, under any president of either party.” Hey, Legend, maybe that’s why Lil Wayne, Lil Pump, and Kanye West are supporting Trump?

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette admitted that they had “not supported a Republican for president since 1972,” and that they “share the embarrassment of millions of Americans who are disturbed by the president’s unpresidential manners and character.” But they pointed out that “the Biden-Harris ticket offers us higher taxes and a nanny state that will bow to the bullies and the woke who would tear down history rather than learning from history and building up the country.”

The economy and country were already doing great. Biden and Harris won’t improve them, they’ll impair them. John Legend had better realize this before his legacy of foolishness is cemented into history.
