Conservatives are debating if free speech online can be pursued as a civil right, because in modern times, access to platforms determines whether Americans can be part of the national conversation.
Alexander Hall of MRCTV’s TechShark interviewed lawyer, Human Events co-publisher, and Senior counsel at the Internet Accountability Project, Will Chamberlain.
Hall and Chamberlain both agreed that conservatives need to protect the spirit, or intent, of the First Amendment and craft their own legislation to protect it, instead of merely complaining about censorship.
Hall brought up how an anti-discrimination law already on the books could spell big trouble for Big Tech companies that engage in political censorship. Chamberlain suggested that it could help, but discussed numerous options at the conservative movement’s disposal, some of which are already being pursued by various states.
