In 2009, the satirical newspaper The Onion published a compilation entitled Our Front Pages: 21 Years of Greatness, Virtue, and Moral Rectitude From America's Finest News Source. Editors chose, of all people, NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams for the task of writing a foreward. (h/t For America president David Bozell)
"Truth's Last Outpost," blared the title of Williams's four-paragraph long tongue-in-cheek blathering homage to the storied journalistic triumph that is the fake newspaper. "[W]hen those men and women yet unborn cast their eyes back upon our era, the failing light they see flickering back at them shall be guttering from the front page of America's Finest News Source, The Onion."
