The launch of a pro-Trump dating app received positive play on Telemundo (and other major media outlets, including Newsweek) with anchor José Díaz-Balart wrapping up his network’s national evening newscast with a feature on DonaldDaters, created for Trump-loving lovers by Emily Moreno, an entrepreneurial Latina conservative no less.
With the tag line “Make America Date Again”, DonaldDaters is a solution, in Díaz-Balart’s words, for supporters of the President who are “having a hard time finding a partner”, a phenomenon several of the women interviewed by Telemundo correspondent Cristina Londoño confirmed.
JOSÉ DÍAZ-BALART, ANCHOR, TELEMUNDO: Let's talk now about love in times of Trump. The President's supporters are having a hard time finding a partner. Some say they have been assaulted on dates. But now a young Hispanic woman has come to their rescue with the DonaldDaters app.
In her report from ultra-liberal Berkeley, California, correspondent Cristina Londoño featured two pro-Trump Latinas who were very enthusiastic about the app, while two other Hispanic Trump haters gave it a thumbs down.
In fact, it was one of the latter who added the only sour note to the report with an acrid comment to the effect that bringing a Republican home to her parents would be to “Spit them in the face, for all the work and efforts of our parents and ancestors.”
As DonaldDaters CEO Emily Moreno tweeted in her account, being a single conservative in the dating world is no easy feat but “Now it’s as easy as downloading DonaldDaters!” Other promos for the app read “Find that special someone who supports President Trump as much as you do” and “You had me at MAGA.”

CRISTINA LONDOÑO, CORRESPONDENT, TELEMUNDO: In this live broadcast from Colorado, Paloma Zúñiga was promoting a dating app for followers of Donald Trump.
ZÚÑIGA: I've had very bad experience in bars, at parties. In fact, I´ve been asked to leave. I have been told you have nothing to do here.
KRISTA TORRES, USER OF DONALD DATERS: They hate us. Me, in a bar, they sent me the tab.
LONDOÑO: They acknowledge that they also would never date Democrats or liberals.
TORRES: I can´t, I can´t, I couldn´t. I don´t know how.
LONDOÑO: And they applaud that conservative Emily Moreno has launched DonaldDaters. Promoters of the app have said that it is especially necessary in ultra-liberal cities like this one, Berkeley, where political differences have been extremely passionate, and not romantic at all. These disturbances were in response to a public pro-Trump event. Jovi Val, who says that he would date Democrats, was participating.
JOVI VAL, TRUMP SUPPORTER: I don´t need it. I also organize Trump events and meet a lot of women.
BRITTANY AYALA AND MARÍA MEDINA: No, for nothing in the world.
LONDOÑO: They also assure that dating a “Trumpist” would be an insult to their parents.
AYALA: To spit them in their face for all the work and efforts of our parents and ancestors.
MEDINA: First they will me scold me for having invited one and then they will also run him out.
LONDOÑO: While Paloma and Krista are aware that the brand-new application was hacked and initially compromised the information of its clients. But they say that for love, they will forgive the mistake.
