Careful Colbert, your impeachment excitement is showing again. Many are aware of Senator Kamala Harris’ controversial legal track record from her tenure as California’s Attorney General. However, Colbert acted as though he had yet to receive this memo as he requested Harris’ prosecutorial input into the impeachment inquiry on Thursday’s The Late Show.
The query was prefaced with, you guessed it, a stab at Republicans in Congress whom Colbert suggested are lacking in the capacity to do the “right thing.” The spotlight was then shifted to Harris, as Colbert stroked her ego by asking her to put her legal mind to the test:
I think you're right that they know it's not right. It's a matter of do they think they will pay a price for not caring. As a prosecutor, as a prosecutor -- how many years were you a prosecutor?...As a prosecutor of 15 years, when you look at the impeachment inquiry, who's been the most compelling witness so far and who, as a prosecutor, would you want to call next?
Harris is SUPPOSED to a be an open-minded juror in any hypothetical impeachment trial. Yet, Colbert is lobbying her to put on her “prosecutor” role?
Harris, ever the jurisprudent scholar, provided her opinion to the question. It was not lacking in fodder for the largely leftist audience:
I think that today's hearing, in particular, Fiona Hill was remarkable…she very clear and very precise in her presentation and her testimony and, therefore, leaves us with no question about her credibility…. So I found her to be incredible and very persuasive. Going forward- again, all the President's men. Bring them all forward.
Colbert then began to rattle off names of Trump Administration Officials who he believes should be questioned by the House Intelligence Committee; “Pompeo, Mulvaney, Bolton[.]” When Harris singled out Vice President Mike Pence as being a potential witness, Colbert was clearly enthused as he crossed his fingers in hope.
This was hardly the first time impeachment was mentioned, earlier in the evening, Colbert expressed his shock and horror over Senator Lindsay Graham’s latest investigation involving Vice President Joe Biden:
…There is news that just broke that none of these people know about. Is that "The Washington Post" is reporting that Lindsey Graham is launching a probe of the Bidens, Burisma and Ukraine. First question, what the hell? You're on judiciary with him. What do you make of this?
Rather than ask Harris about calling witnesses for this probe, Colbert continued to look past any potential wrongdoing on the part of the Bidens’: “Even the witnesses that they were looking forward to like Volker said, there is nothing to this. Joe Biden, you cannot impugn his character to this, there is nothing to it.”
The host appeared crestfallen as he pondered the future of Harris’ campaign in what was the most substantial question of the night: “You've laid off most of your staff in New Hampshire. Why give up in the live free or die state? Are we living free or dying right now?”
Once again affirming his leftist propensity, he allowed Harris to turn his show into a fundraising event at the end of the interview:

STEPHEN COLBERT: I want to talk about last night's debate.
KAMALA HARRIS: Ok.
COLBERT: But before we do that, there is news that just broke that none of these people know about. Is that The Washington Post is reporting that Lindsey Graham is launching a probe of the Bidens, Burisma and Ukraine. First question, what the hell?
HARRIS: Yeah.
COLBERT: You're on judiciary with him. What do you make of this?
HARRIS: I make of it, it's the same thing that they have been doing, which is to create a big distraction from the facts and the evidence and, frankly, you know, my perspective is leave Joe alone, just leave him alone. Leave him alone because this has been -- you know, we know this from every day of the -- thank God, the open to the public hearings that we've been witnessing. The Burisma, the Biden probe is a bunch of b.s.
COLBERT: Even the witnesses that they were looking forward to like Volker said, there is nothing to this. Joe Biden, you cannot impugn his character to this, there is nothing to it.
HARRIS: But it also speaks to the fact that they know they have to create this big distraction because there's a lot there otherwise that the American people are focusing on that tells us about the fact that we have a criminal living in the White House.
COLBERT: Your words, not mine, ma'am.

HARRIS: The cold, hard reality of running for President is that it is really expensive, And you've got to raise a lot of money, and you have to make hard decisions...I mean, if anybody wants to see me on that debate, this is going to be a shameless plug --

Because not only was she very clear and very precise in her presentation and her testimony and, therefore, leaves us with no question about her credibility, but, also, she is the example of who the vast majority of the career people are who serve in our government, and in particular those who serve in positions that are about our national security. Such as members of the American Intelligence Community, dedicated people, who are literally dedicated to preserving all that we hold dear about our country. So I found her to be incredible and very persuasive. Going forward- again, all the President's men. Bring them all forward.
COLBERT: Pompeo, Mulvaney, Bolton-
HARRIS: Pence.
COLBERT: Ooh.
