'Write It Down,' Ruhle Gives Democrats Campaign, Abortion Advice

May 20th, 2022 9:46 AM

The 11th Hour host Stephanie Ruhle confirmed on her Thursday show what many already suspected: her show exists to give Democrats campaign advice. Ruhle told Democrats to “write it down, post it up somewhere” after legal analyst Neal Katyal went on a factually challenged diatribe on Oklahoma’s new pro-life bill and Justice Alito’s leaked draft opinion.

Ruhle asked Katyal about what is to come in Oklahoma, “So, Roe v. Wade has not yet been overturned, let's say the governor signs it tomorrow, then what?”

After Katyal observed that “we’re in this weird holding pattern” as the country awaits the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, he declared the draft be “so radical, so radical, Steph, in saying all these kinds of laws are okay.”

Katyal also declared that is obvious Oklahoma doesn’t care about life and simply hates women, “And, you know, Steph, this is not about protecting life, which is what Oklahoma’s saying, it’s obviously about a war against women.”

Trying to back up his false claim, he added, “I mean, this is from a state, Oklahoma, that ranks 44th and education, 41st in women in poverty, 42nd in general child wellbeing, and stuff like that. And, you know, forget about children, if you just want to hear about infants, 200 Republicans today voting against a bill to ease the baby formula shortage. You know, it’s just, this is, it’s not—it’s not-- what they are saying it is about.”

Ruhle then returned, “Democrats, Neal Katyal, just give you your campaign messaging, write it down, post it up somewhere.”

Before doing that, Ruhle and Katyal might want to explain how $28 million for FDA “salaries and expenses” is going to result in more baby formula.

STEPHANIE RUHLE:  So, Roe v. Wade has not yet been overturned, let's say the governor signs it tomorrow, then what?

NEAL KATYAL:  So, we’re in this weird holding pattern where we’ve seen this draft opinion, it’s not the law of the land yet. If it becomes the law of the land, then the Oklahoma law could be tried, someone can try to challenge it in a court, but it’s probably not going anywhere, because the Alito opinion draft is so radical, so radical, Steph, in saying all these kinds of laws are okay, even a nationwide ban on abortion should the Republicans take the House and Senate would be permissible, it looks like under the Alito draft opinion. And, you know, Steph, this is not about protecting life, which is what Oklahoma’s saying, it’s obviously about a war against women.

I mean, this is from a state, Oklahoma, that ranks 44th and education, 41st in women in poverty, 42nd in general child wellbeing, and stuff like that. And, you know, forget about children, if you just want to hear about infants, 200 Republicans today voting against a bill to ease the baby formula shortage. You know, it’s just, this is, it’s not—it’s not-- what they are saying it is about.

RUHLE: Democrats, Neal Katyal, just give you your campaign messaging, write it down, post it up somewhere.
