As many media outlets jettison journalistic standards by blatantly promoting and celebrating the LGBT movement, NBCNews.com’s pro-LGBTQ propaganda arm “NBC OUT” recently announced that it will create a “#Pride30 List” for “Pride Month” this June.
Here’s a portion of the April 4 release:
The lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community has so much to be proud of, and Pride Month gives us — and our allies — an opportunity to celebrate our successes and those of us who are making positive contributions to society.
This is why NBC Out has decided to launch its inaugural #Pride30 list. This year, we will use Pride Month as an opportunity to recognize and celebrate LGBTQ people who are making the community proud. Starting on June 1 and ending on June 30, we will highlight one LGBTQ changemaker, innovator or rising star each day — and we want YOU to help us choose our list of 30.
The nomination guidelines noted that “[a]nyone who self-identifies as LGBTQ, is not a household name and is making a positive contribution to society is eligible to be a nominee.”
In addition to selecting people from the pool of nominees, the article added: “A smaller group of our #Pride30 changemakers, innovators and rising stars will be directly nominated by LGBTQ celebrities and community leaders.”
Brooke Sopelsa is the Managing Editor of NBC OUT and the author of this announcement. In February 2017, Sopelsa retweeted a tweet by Mary Emily O’Hara that said, “[j]oin us for the weekly @NBCOUT news wrap-up, which I just decided is called ‘Between Two Lesbians’ bc it's hosted by @brookesopelsa and I.”
During the introduction an episode of the Facebook Live show, Sopelsa identifies herself and O’Hara as lesbians by noting that the guests sitting between them are “sitting between two lesbians.”
A September 2016 NBC OUT Facebook post advertised that Sopelsa would be on a panel titled “Queer Women & Leadership” at the “The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center.” The Center is located in New York, New York and the details on the Facebook event page provide a longer title for the event, “Queer Women and Leadership: A Conversation with Some of NYC’s Top LGBT Leaders.”
