On Thursday's New Day, CNN co-host Alisyn Camerota understated former Minnesota Democratic Senator Al Franken's history of sexual harassment as she asked Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar if she thinks he should run for Congress again.
As if posing for a photograph with his hands within inches of LeeAnn Tweeden's breasts as she slept on an airplane were the worst thing he had been accused of doing, Camerota began her question: "Al Franken resigned during this 'Me Too' moment where he was seen pretending to grope a sleeping woman before he was ever a Senator."
She then added:
Yesterday, he was asked on a Minnesota CBS station interview -- well, actually, Monday -- he said, 'I miss the whole job. I love the job. I loved that job as Senator," and he said that he had not ruled out running again and trying to get that job again. Would you like to see Al Franken run again?
Not mentioned was that Tweeden also accused Franken of forceably kissing her as they rehearsed for a USO performance, and other women also accused him of groping them at public appearances.
After Klobuchar declined to give a preference as to whether Franken should run for office again, the CNN host followed up: "This isn't just wild speculation. He's the one who's saying he hasn't ruled it out. I guess I'm just wondering: Would you like to see him back in Congress?[
