Michael Simon, who headed the 2008 Barack Obama presidential campaign’s targeting and analytics team, has joined CBS Radio, the Tom Taylor Now radio industry e-mail newsletter reported last week in an item highlighted on DCRTV.com. Taylor relayed how “Simon worked on the Obama campaign and later in the administration itself. He also started the ‘data science consultancy’ named HaystaqDNA.”

Tagline on HaystaqDNA’s Web site and its @HaystaqDNA Twitter feed: “We pioneered the predictive analytics that helped the Obama campaign make history.”

Taylor noted Simon “has been consulted for his expertise by the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Buzzfeed, Slate and more.”

At CBS Radio, “he’ll also ‘create new data-driven ad products and strategies for political campaigns, candidates, and related committees and organizations.’ In a way, he’ll be stretching across two areas – figuring out where CBS Radio is and what it’s doing strategically, using ‘big data’ to be shared with President Andre Fernandez, COO Scott Herman and other top brass.”
