As part of his post-New Hampshire analysis on Thursday’s Nightly Show, Comedy Central personality Larry Wilmore used a clip of Senator Marco Rubio telling supporters he failed them in Saturday’s ABC debate to also argue it could be used as an admission that he had erectile dysfunction.
Wilmore first covered Donald Trump’s win and Republican Governor John Kasich (Ohio) coming in second before noting that “there was an opening for Kasich because of Marco Rubio's awful performance at Saturday's debate, but don't worry” because “Rubio has heard your notes.”
He then played the well-circulated clip in question where Rubio ruled that he had failed to live up to the expectations of supporters when he stumbled in the debate: “I'm disappointed with tonight...Our disappointment tonight is not on you. It's on me. It's on me. I did not — I did not do well on Saturday night. So listen to this. That will never happen again.”
With a smirk, Wilmore looked at the audience and cameras and observed: “Fun fact. Guys, this is true. Um, that soundbite is ten times more fun if you imagine he's sitting up in bed saying the exact same thing.”
The liberal comedian had the clip reaired with a photoshopped image of Rubio and his wife Jeanette laying in bed with the Florida Senator looking disappointed and his wife appearing irked.
Naturally, the leftist crowd laughed hysterically at this comparison to those with E.D. and Wilmore pivoted to Jeb Bush’s floundering campaign:
True, true. Alright, speaking of a campaign with ED, Jeb-sclamation point only got 11 percent of the vote, so he's now spent $84 million, including his super PAC, for three delegates. That's $28 million a delegate. I'm sure Jeb never thought he'd have a harder time finding voters than his brother did finding WMDs.
As an aside, it’s doubtful that Wilmore or any comedian would not make an inappropriate joke about, say, Hillary Clinton or even socialist Bernie Sanders because any such quip would draw immediate repudiation by the left.
Using two now-infamous clips of Bush from his campaign thus far, Wilmore closed with another sexual joke before going onto the results of the Democratic primary:
JEB BUSH: Please clap.
[LAUGHTER AND APPLAUSE]
WILMORE: Oh, oh, alright. Very good. Well, thanks for putting that in there, Jeb.
BUSH: That's what she said.
WILMORE: Oh. That actually is what she said, thank you.
