MSNBC’s The Last Word, was back on Wednesday night to their usual anti-Trump rhetoric, amidst Trump’s recent ABC interview which had sent the entire liberal media in a frenzy. To begin, O’Donnell showed a clip from the interview in which President Trump stated: “I’ve seen a lot of things over my life. I don’t think in my whole life I’ve ever called the FBI, in my whole life. You don’t call the FBI.”
Ten minutes in, frequent guest Frank Figliuzzi, painted Trump out to be a criminal mastermind: “Sounds like a copo in La Cosa Nostra saying we take care of things in this thing of ours. We don’t get anybody from outside involved. We don’t talk to the feds. That’s what it sounds like to me.” Well, frankly Figliuzzi sounded like he’s talking from personal experience. He went on to insinuate that President Trump is a part of some covert cult in which he is ‘owned’ by foreign powers:
The moment you agree to sit down and listen, the moment they agree to sit down at that Trump tower meeting and listen to dirt being offered on Hillary Clinton, they are owned by that foreign power. That is the recruitment operation. You don't have to accept it. You don't have to receive it.
Figliuzzi explained that he was “convinced” that the President is “owned”: “I’m more convinced than ever that this president may well be owned or will soon be owned by the time of the 2020 election.” Sounds like Figliuzzi is “owned” by the liberal media.
Analysis of this Trump clip consumed most of the hour with O’Donnell interviewing several guests, including MSNBC contributor Jennifer Rubin, who went on an angry tirade against the President: “You have to ask a more fundamental question which is, how can anyone in their right mind and good conscience support putting this guy in office for another four years…” Another ‘fundamental question’: how does MSNBC retain viewership when it insults over half the U.S. population who voted for Trump?
Rubin continued: “He is a mess. He has betrayed his country. He will do it again. If he's reelected can you imagine what he's going to do, then? It's really catastrophic.” The only one Trump has been betraying is the liberal media that he has rightfully labeled “fake news”.

That's what it sounds like to me. Lawrence, I — I want to focus on — on something the President said which is it's okay to listen. It's okay to listen if you're offered some — some, as he calls it, research oppo from a foreign nation. Here's what's wrong with a counter intelligence perspective. The moment you agree to sit down and listen, the moment they agreed to sit down at that Trump Tower and listen to dirt being offered on Hillary Clinton, they are owned by that foreign power. That is the recruitment operation. You don't have to accept it. You don't have to receive it. Yes, you’ve just cited the law and those are statutory elements for a crime. But on the counter investigation side, the second you agree to do something shady, they own you and I'm more convinced than ever over what we've heard from the president over the last 24 hours regarding CIA not being able to — he wouldn’t allow the CIA to recruit the half-brother of Kim Jong-un, he — he doesn't believe anything's wrong with taking oppo research up to and including the next election, I'm more convinced than ever that this President may well be owned or will soon owned by the time the 2020 election is over.

LAWRENCE O’DONNELL: Jennifer Rubin, he is commander in chief and also candidate for president. How is this campaign day working for President Trump?
JENNIFER RUBIN [MSNBC CONTRIBUTOR]: Well, I think every democratic candidate down to the lowly of the lows is going to be able to exploit this one. And we forget because we are so hung up on the legality, we're so hung up on impeachment. You have to ask a much more fundamental question which is how can anyone in their right mind and good conscience support putting this guy in office for another four years which is what every single Republican is advising that we do. He is a mess. He has betrayed his country. He will do it again. If he's reelected can you imagine what he's going to do, then? It's really catastrophic.
