Last night on Hardball, MSNBC host Chris Matthews insisted, "I'm not a hater" even though there are "a couple that really get to me though," such as Dick Cheney (see video embedded below).
But as we at NewsBusters have repeatedly demonstrated, Matthews has used his program as a platform to spew out all kinds of incendiary bile against conservative Republicans. Here are just a few from the hit parade:
* He called Rick Santorum's faith a "Christian version of Sharia law"
* He called Santorum a "Cro-Magnon"
* He called Santorum a "theocrat"
* He compared Newt Gingrich to Satan
* He compared Gingrich to the horror-movie killer Freddy Krueger
* He said Gingrich was "not a human" but rather a "gaseous state" (Yeah, I'm not sure what exactly that's supposed to mean either)
* He compared Ted Cruz to Sen. Joe McCarthy
* Last but not least, he fantasized about Rush Limbaugh being killed by an exploding CO2 pellet in his head, a la a James Bond movie villain.
The record is pretty clear. Chris Matthews is not only a "hater," but a comically absurd one, unafraid to air to a national TV audience his craziest ideas and cartoonishly murderous fantasies about conservatives he despises.
