As the media are beating their breasts about Ted Cruz's hit on Donald Trump for exhibiting "New York values" and hence proving he's an ill fit for Iowa Republicans, I noticed something the other night on MSNBC's The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell which seems to illustrate the New York-based liberal media's mockery and disdain for conservative rural America.
Bemused with how Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson endorsed Ted Cruz and cut a campaign commercial with the Texas senator which features the pair duck hunting together, O'Donnell saw fit to air video of the ad for his audience. After running the clip, O'Donnell quipped to his producer:
Uh, OK, control room, I'm going to need that picture of Ted Cruz in the duck makeup for every segment we do about Ted Cruz for the rest of his career.
The proper term for the "duck makeup" is face camouflage. It's likely O'Donnell didn't know the term, perhaps, but using the term "duck makeup" may well have been in service of needling Cruz and his supporters. And it's not like it takes all that long on a search engine to find out the proper term.
Here are the transcript and video:

LAWRENCE O'DONNELL, host: Ted Cruz released a video today proudly announcing his latest endorsement.
[begin videotape]
PHIL ROBERTSON: My qualifications for president of the United States are rather narrow. Is he or she godly? Does he or she love us? Can he or she do the job? And finally, would they kill a duck and put 'em in a pot and make 'em a good duck gumbo.
I've looked at the candidates. Ted Cruz is my man. He fits the bill.
He's godly. He loves us. He's the man for the job. And he will go duck hunting. Because today we're going. Ted Cruz is my man. I'm voting for him.
ROBERTSON to CRUZ: Cruz, the reason we're going to vote for you, all of us, is because you're one of us, my man.
TED CRUZ: Thank you.
ROBERTSON to CRUZ: That's why we're voting for you. It's now or never.
[end videotape]
O'DONNELL: Uh, OK, control room, I'm going to need that picture of Ted Cruz in the duck makeup for every segment we do about Ted Cruz for the rest of his career.
