As a result of the Supreme Court’s partial upholding of President Trump’s travel ban, the liberal media has been forced to search for new arguments as to why it remains cruel and unjustified. The answer by the New York Daily News only demonstrates the severity to which the paper is suffering from Trump derangement syndrome. Consider for a moment, the possibility of us living in a parallel universe where the ban applied to Trump’s grandchildren.
Imagine, if the travel ban were to apply to U.S. citizens, Trump’s own family members would be banned from entering into the country! You cannot make this stuff up.
The New York Daily News has, in fact, published an article entitled, “If President Trump’s travel ban applied to his family, his grandchildren wouldn’t be allowed in the country.” It actually stated:
“If President Trump’s family were subject to his soon-to-be-implemented travel ban, his grandchildren would be left out in the cold.
The State Department late Wednesday revealed which visa applicants and refugees would be exempt from the travel ban due to their “bona fide relationship” with an American entity. And though adult children qualify, grandchildren do not.
To project how these distinctions would play out in practice, let’s imagine that American entity is the President — and see which members of his “close family,” if they were foreign nationals, would be allowed into the U.S.”
It continued:
“The State Department guidance bars grandparents and grandchildren from entry — so that would put Ivanka and Jared’s 5-year-old Arabella, 3-year-old Joseph and 1-year-old Teddy out of luck.
Donald Jr. and Vanessa’s brood — Kai, 10, Donald III, 8, Tristan, 5, Spencer, 4 and Chloe, 3 — would also be shut out. Eric and Lara, meanwhile, are expecting a baby boy who would be infant non grata.”
We have literally reached the point where the press is now writing about imaginary, alternate realities to support their arguments. What exactly is the thought process here? Trump bans travel which would then apply to his own family in America? The cognitive dissonance present here is both deafening and disturbing. The fact that the media are so apparently oblivious to the national security rationale behind the ban is deeply concerning and something that should be troubling to everyone.
