On the eve of the first Republican presidential primary debate of the 2024 election, MSNBC's Joy Reid decided to get in one last smear against Florida Republican governor and presidential candidate Ron DeSantis before he takes the stage on Wednesday evening. She did this by inviting the George Soros-backed prosecutor Monique Worrell who DeSantis fired to falsely tell her she lost her job because she's black. In reality, she was fired for being soft on crime. It had absolutely nothing to do with her race or political party.
"Monique, it feels like you know, it's not even clear what he was targeting you for other than you're a black woman who is inconvenient to his politics," Reid maliciously claimed with zero evidence to back it up. "And so what does that tell you about what he would do as a President of the United States?"
If Reid did her research, she would know that DeSantis's office put out a statement explaining why Worrell was fired and hint: race or political party weren't mentioned.
Worrell took the softball question and ran with it: "Well listen, we’ve lost so many freedoms here just over the last year, I think that we all should be very concerned about what that looks like."
"Because essentially as Andrew said, it's not that he doesn't know. He perfectly well understands that what he's doing is unconstitutional," Worrell cried. "He just doesn't care."
"He is an authoritarian and that is not what this country needs. We need to get back the freedoms that we’ve lost, not lose more in the process," she added.
Worrell didn't explain which freedoms have supposedly been "lost" in Florida. If that was the case, there wouldn't be hundreds of thousands of Americans moving to Florida each year.
This smear of Ron DeSantis as a racist was made possible by Liberty Mutual. Their information is linked.
