No Profile in Courage for you, Emily Murphy!
The liberal media has been castigating President Trump as a sore loser for pursuing legal challenges to the election results. But if there's anything worse than a sore loser, it's a sore winner. Yet that's exactly what CNN did this morning. Everything is always much too late.
The duo of New Day co-host John Berman and CNN political director David Chalian wanted to ensure that GSA Administrator Emily Murphy didn't receive any significant credit for initiating the formal transition process, which she did by sending Joe Biden a letter to that effect.
Berman kicked off the diminishment of Murphy's move:
JOHN BERMAN: It wasn’t any more obvious last night, when Emily Murphy sent this letter, that Joe Biden won the election than it was two-and-a-half weeks ago. Honestly, nothing real changed. This doesn’t and shouldn’t be considered some massive Profile in Courage from the GSA Administrator.
Chalian was only too happy to rather unctuously agree:
DAVID CHALIAN: Not at all. I mean, it’s good for the country. I’m glad we’re moving forward with a formal transition process and that an incoming administration, in the midst of a pandemic and a crippled economy, due to the pandemic, is actually going to have access to the teams that are currently managing or mismanaging, in some cases, this process. This is all good. But you’re absolutely right, John. There is nothing different.
Liberal journalists have this weird habit of presuming everything's already being fixed when Democrats start getting briefings. People were going to DIE of COVID because some Biden aide didn't get a briefing. In 1992, the New York Times suggested the "Clinton Expansion" had already started.
Note that Chalian wanted to claim that in all previous elections, the transition had been promptly begun. Except . . . there was that inconvenient exception in 2000. Al Gore, after initially conceding, held up the process for 37 days, taking his fight all the way to the Supreme Court. But Chalian assured viewers, "that was a totally different scenario."
Right. It's always "totally different" when the Democrats fight something.
CHALIAN: This is all pro forma stuff. And in previous elections, you know—put 2000 aside, which I know Emily Murphy has been citing as an example. That was a totally different scenario.
In previous elections, the transition would have been well underway, already. Because it was crystal clear, two-and-a-half weeks ago, that Joe Biden had become the President-elect of the United States. So you’re right, no Profiles in Courage here.
CNN's dismissal of GSA Administrator Emily Murphy for initiating the transition process was sponsored in part by Sleep Number and Liberty Mutual.
