The Media Research Center’s second annual Bulldog Award for Lifetime Achievement has been presented to Brit Hume. The Bulldog Awards honor true journalists who richly deserve accolades yet will never receive them from the leftist media establishment.
On Monday, May 8, the biggest journalism awards, the Pulitzer Prizes, were announced. As usual, they honored left-wing journalists who pushed the liberal agenda. The MRC instead honors those committed to exposing the truth and announced six Bulldog Award winners on Tuesday, followed by the Lifetime Achievement award today.
The other 2023 winners, in six categories, of Bulldog Awards: Chris Plante (Outstanding Radio Talk Show Host), Matt Walsh (Outstanding Podcast), Chaya Raichik (Outstanding Social Media Personality), Andrew Kerr (Outstanding Investigative Journalism), Mary Margaret Olohan (Outstanding Blogger) and Karol Markowicz (Outstanding Columnist).
In announcing this year’s Lifetime Achievement honoree, Media Research Center President L. Brent Bozell III explained: “Brit Hume has always been the epitome of what true news journalism should be. Our vote was unanimous. Brit deserves this lifetime achievement award not just for running Fox News’ D.C. bureau, but also for his time at ABC News as a steadfastly honest and reliable journalist. Congratulations to Brit for all he has accomplished and all he continues to contribute to the conversation every day.”
More about Brit Hume: Name a Washington journalist who has earned respect across party and ideological lines, and one name comes to mind: Brit Hume.
For decades, Hume stood as a rarity in the established media, a reporter for ABC News who showed respect for conservatives while displaying honesty and candor in his years as a White House reporter covering both Democratic and Republican administrations.
Hume’s 23 years at ABC News, with the final eight as White House correspondent, earned him a reputation as a reporter who delivered the news with honesty and candor. In January of 1997, he moved to the brand-new Fox News Channel, following his wife Kim, who started the D.C. Bureau months before. Hume took on the role of managing editor and chief Washington correspondent, tasked with building up the TV news bureau.

He created Special Report with Brit Hume, an hour-long weekday program which for more than ten years served as the preeminent Washington, DC-based political news program. It was must-watch TV for conservatives, who tuned in to catch reports on topics suppressed by established media outlets and his end-of-show political roundtable, while Hume earned the respect of the DC press corps for a fair and balanced newscast.
Since stepping down from Special Report at the end of 2008, as chief political analyst for Fox News Hume has become a contributor to the show hosted by his successor, Bret Baier, offering sober and cogent common sense takes on the latest political shenanigans in Washington. DC, sharing his years of inside knowledge with the audience.
In 2009, the Media Research Center honored Hume with the William F. Buckley Jr. Award for Media Excellence.
