Jay Leno took some cheap shots at America's leading Republicans Tuesday.
During his Tonight Show monologue filled with jokes about the GOP's presumptive presidential nominee, Leno said, "Ever since it was announced that Sarah Palin will not be speaking at the Republican convention the Romney campaign has been flooded with thousands of texts and emails demanding she be allowed to speak - all from President Obama" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
JAY LENO: And as you know, Mitt Romney has picked Paul Ryan as his running mate. Well, experts say Ryan can add something vital to this campaign that Mitt Romney lacks - a personality.
[Laughter and applause]
Well, actually, you know, it was pretty cool because nobody suspected him. Mitt Romney kept the selection of Ryan as his VP nominee for more than a week. You know how he's able to keep it secret? He had it hidden next to his tax returns. Apparently, nobody, nobody could find, could get at it.
[Laughter and applause]
Well, we are learning more and more about this Wisconsin congressman. Apparently he is a huge Green Bay Packers fan. We know that. Well, he's from Wisconsin. See, that shows you how far the Republicans have progressed. I mean, their VP this time is a cheesehead. Remember last time? It was an airhead. That was totally different. So they're coming forward.
[Laughter and applause]
Listen to this, listen to this. Ever since it was announced that Sarah Palin will not be speaking at the Republican convention the Romney campaign has been flooded with thousands of texts and emails demanding she be allowed to speak - all from President Obama.
Honestly, will the Palin jokes ever end?
Johnny Carson had a rule to not go to the same joke well too long.
Isn't four years enough?
