Appearing on Friday’s NBC Today, Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd hyped the birther attacks on Ted Cruz as damaging to the Texas Senator’s campaign: “...it has unnerved Cruz. You saw him. MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews teamed with guests April Ryan and Steve McMahon early Friday morning to lambaste Republican presidential candidates Chris Christie for supposedly being disrespectful to President Obama during Thursday’s GOP debate and Carly Fiorina for arguing that she likes to spend time with her husband compared to Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Multiple times throughout the two hours of post-GOP debate edition of MSNBC’s Hardball late Thursday and early Friday, Chris Matthews expressed confusion at Ted Cruz’s attack on Donald Trump and “New York values” by wondering if it’s like accusing all San Francisco Democrats of being gay or playing Harold Hill in The Music Man by “playing to the hicks” in Iowa.

Speaking to Ben Carson Press Secretary Deanna Bass on Thursday’s 7:00 p.m. Eastern edition of MSNBC’s Hardball, host Chris Matthews wondered if her candidate “will talk faster” in the upcoming Fox Business debate after being largely known for having a soft-spoken temperament. 

Economist Steve Moore told Fox Business Network correspondent Charlie Gasparino on Jan. 14, that Republicans would win the presidency if the current economic malaise persists in nine months. “If we’re in this kind of economic rut nine months from now, the Republicans are going to win the election,” said Moore, a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at The Heritage Foundation.

A missed opportunity for thoughtful discussion of the issues that affect minority communities, in lieu of a divisive identity politics agenda.
