On Monday morning, NBC News and Today kept their viewers in the dark on new details from e-mails of Clinton aides that showed the head of the Rockefeller Foundation sought preferential seating at a luncheon held by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s State Department after the organization had given between $10 and $25 million to the Clinton Foundation. 

While both NBC’s Today and CBS This Morning devoted full reports to The Wall Street Journal exposing the Obama administration secretly paying a $400 million ransom in cash to Iran to secure the release of American hostages, ABC’s Good Morning America only managed two news briefs on the topic that amounted to less than a minute of air time.

In a decision that has rocked the political landscape, FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday announced that the FBI will not recommend prosecuting Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. On Friday, NBC’s Today skipped any mention of CIA Director John Brennan detailing Obama administration failures in the fight against ISIS while testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee. The morning show ignored the major story despite Thursday’s NBC Nightly News devoting a nearly two-minute segment to the topic.

Although NBC and CBS on Friday covered the “unprecedented,” “deep frustration” that diplomats at the State Department have for Barack Obama’s Syria policy, ABC’s Good Morning America allowed a scant 18 seconds to the subject. This is despite allowing 14 minutes to a Demi Lovato rock concert, clearly not as important a topic. 

Despite a four hour run time, NBC’s Today on Friday couldn’t be bothered to cover the news that Huma Abedin has been interviewed by the FBI and that Hillary Clinton will soon. CBS This Morning journalists managed a mere 31 seconds and ABC’s Good Morning America produced a scant 17 seconds.  Most of CBS’s half minute coverage was devoted to repeating Clinton talking points. 

On Thursday, all three network morning shows dutifully promoted the Obama Justice Department threatening to sue North Carolina over its transgender bathroom law and accusing the state of violating the Civil Rights Act. At the top of Thursday’s NBC Today, co-host Matt Lauer proclaimed: “Game on. Clinton and Trump gear up for their likely general election showdown....They’re two of the most unpopular candidates in recent history.” He then promised an examination of the flaws of both candidates: “This morning, the major obstacles facing both campaigns.”

On Monday, all three network morning shows covered the violent May Day rioting that broke out across Seattle on Sunday. However, the NBC, ABC, and CBS broadcasts made sure to tout how “the march began as a peaceful demonstration for the rights of workers and immigrants.” No liberal labels were used to characterize the protesters and the reporters avoided explaining the Communist roots of the day.

After NBC and ABC rushed to label Donald Trump “moderate” during Thursday’s evening newscasts following his move to left on transgender bathrooms and abortion, on Friday morning, all three network morning shows touted the Republican frontrunner “sounding strikingly more moderate on social issues” as he worked to “tone it down” on the campaign trail.
