Former CBS and MSNBC producer Chris Licht formally took the helm of CNN on Monday morning and, in a 650-word note to employees, said he wouldn’t be in “the weeds of day-to-day editorial decision making” (like former CNN head Jeff Zucker), take on “‘group-think,’” and ensure CNN is “respectful of differing viewpoints.”

Ahead of CNN+ turning out its lights on Friday, Axios’s Sara Fischer chimed in Tuesday with yet another scoop stating that, according to internal CNN documents from last month, the liberal network hilariously claimed there are “29 million ‘CNN super fans’” out there willing to pay up for the soon-to-be-deceased streaming platform.

On his show Monday night, left-wing Late Show host Stephen Colbert was ecstatic that his executive producer Chris Licht had been tapped to become the president of CNN. He heaped praise on Licht while jokingly taking credit for having “trained the next president of CNN.”

In an interesting “scoop” published Saturday, Axios reported that CBS’s EVP of Special Programming Chris Licht, who was tapped to replace ousted CNN boss Jeff Zucker to lead the third-place cable network, wants to get back to CNN being a straight news outlet and cut back on the liberal screeds that dominate prime time and their newscasts in general.

Once again, Stephen Colbert has given up comedy. Talking to Chris Christie on Thursday night, the Late Show host berated the Republican and demanded he drop his support for Donald Trump. An appalled Colbert sputtered, “I found out, literally, I just found out yesterday or today that you're helping the Trump campaign. Are you helping him prep for these debates?”  

Perhaps feeling the heat over her kind words for accused sexual abuser Charlie Rose, CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King backtracked on Friday and said of the investigation: “Let the chips fall where they may.” On Thursday, King declared she was “sick” of covering the sex allegations against her “friend” and former colleague.
