Another Great Jobs Report? NBC Skipped It, The Others Talked Past It
March 7th, 2020 8:08 PM
On Friday morning, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the economy gained 273,000 jobs in February, well above economist predictions, and the unemployment rate fell from 3.6 percent to 3.5 percent. Wage growth ticked up slightly to 3 percent for the year. But Friday night's newscasts either skipped this news (NBC) or downplayed it as stocks continued to decline (ABC, CBS, PBS).

On PBS, David Brooks Sees 'A Lot of Upside' for Dems on Coronavirus
March 2nd, 2020 1:15 PM
Put a check mark on the PBS NewsHour for politicizing the coronavirus. On Friday’s Week in Politics segment, anchor Judy Woodruff pointed to (liberal) "sniping" about the president putting Vice President Mike Pence in charge of the government’s task force. New York Times columnist David Brooks said it's doesn't exactly inspire confidence. At segment's end, Brooks insisted that politically, there…

Nets Skip Corrupt Ex-Democratic Mayor of Baltimore Sentenced to Prison
February 27th, 2020 11:45 PM
The broadcast networks weren’t really interested when ex-Democratic Mayor of Baltimore Catherine Pugh was raided by the FBI and the IRS in April of last year amid charges of corruption, nor when she was forced to resign just a few days later. So, it’s not surprising that ABC, CBS, and NBC completely ignored her pleading guilty and sentenced to three years in prison on Thursday.

PBS Pundit Mark Shields Compares 2020 Democrats to Founding Fathers
February 22nd, 2020 10:28 PM
On Friday's PBS NewsHour, liberal commentator Mark Shields made a very odd historical comparison -- the 2020 Democrat presidential contenders were like American revolutionaries of 1776, fighting a president who is somehow like King George III, the tyrannical English monarch.

January 20th, 2020 7:37 PM

Brooks on PBS: Schiff Will 'Just Walk All Over' Ken Starr, Dershowitz
January 18th, 2020 7:04 AM
On Friday's PBS NewsHour, pseudoconservative pundit David Brooks noted that public opinion is moving the wrong way for people who want to remove President Trump from office, but he's "99.9 percent guilty" and Adam Schiff will "walk all over" Trump's new defense lawyers, like Ken Starr and Alan Dershowitz, because "he has the evidence on his side."

PBS Finds 23 Seconds for Dow Passing 28,000 -- ABC, CBS, NBC Spiked It
November 16th, 2019 4:04 PM
The PBS NewsHour managed to find 23 seconds that ABC, CBS, and NBC couldn't find on Friday night...Another record high on Wall Street. They couldn't manage to add any context for Trump in their 11-minute-long Week in Review segment, as "conservative" David Brooks wisecracked the Democrats were killing it on impeachment: "If this were a football game, it would be 42 to 3."

Trump Team Says Biden Spewed 'Two Big Lies' in PBS Interview
November 3rd, 2019 9:53 PM
Democrat presidential front-runner Joe Biden granted an interview to PBS NewsHour anchor Judy Woodruff for Friday night's program. The Trump campaign sent around an e-mail decrying "Two Big Lies" in the interview, one on the allegedly "stagnant" economy and the other on his ignorance of Hunter Biden's business dealings in Ukraine.

PBS Pundit: If Democrats Win Trump Counties, Voters Not Racist
October 26th, 2019 10:48 AM
Liberal PBS NewsHour analyst Mark Shields sort of bumbled into the idea that the way voters prove they're not racist is by voting for Democrats. Many years ago, NBC's Bryant Gumbel announced they had a test to see "whether you're a racist or a liberal." Shields was discussing counties where voters picked Obama, but then switched to Trump. If -- and the if is what makes the bumble -- voters pick a…

Anchors Amp Up Trump Outrageousness in Promoting 'Border Wars' Book
October 13th, 2019 8:56 AM
In the past couple of weeks, New York Times reporters Michael Shear and Julie Hirschfeld Davis have made TV appearances to promote their book Border Wars: Inside Trump's Assault on Immigration. In appearances on CNN and MSNBC, anchors have underlined revelations that President Trump suggested the extreme step of government agents shooting immigrants in the legs -- often leaving out the notion…

Mike Pompeo Hits Back as PBS Host Says 'No Proof' of Biden Wrongdoing
October 10th, 2019 8:56 PM
The anchors on PBS and NPR share the robotic talking point that there's "no evidence" that Joe or Hunter Biden "did anything wrong" in Ukraine. On Wednesday night, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo patiently answered fairly pointed questions from PBS NewsHour anchor Judy Woodruff, but he couldn't abide the Biden talking point, telling Woodruff she sounded like the Democratic National Committee.

PBS Gently Lets Hillary Claim She Could Beat Trump...'Again'
October 10th, 2019 8:22 AM
On Tuesday night, PBS NewsHour anchor Judy Woodruff performed the latest in a decades-long parade of puffball interviews with Hillary Clinton, going all the way back to the 1992 campaign. The only way Hillary gets a negative question is when the anchor reads a Trump tweet. But that's only because the questioner believes everything Trump tweets just sounds preposterous.

PBS, NPR Interview Schiff, Skip Over His False 'Parody' of Trump
September 27th, 2019 8:07 AM
Rush Limbaugh and conservative Twitter made a big deal on Thursday out of Rep. Adam Schiff wildly mischaracterizing President Trump's phone call with the president of Ukraine: "And I’m going to say this only seven times, so you better listen good. I want you to make up dirt on my political opponent, understand? Lots of dirt, on this and on that." On NPR's All Things Considered, anchor Ari Shapiro…

ZERO Challenging Questions for Liberal Senator on CNN, PBS, MSNBC
September 26th, 2019 1:26 PM
It's always amusing when reporters insist that they're not "stenographers to power," but when you look at their interviews with Democrats, they often come across as stenographers -- extremely accomodating, and not at all challenging. Take for example, Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut in his interviews on the Ukrainian kerfuffle on Wednesday. None of his three national TV interviews seriously…
