In the wake of House Republicans unveiling their proposal to repeal and replace ObamaCare Monday night, on Tuesday, the network morning shows signaled that the GOP would not be allowed to undo President Obama’s “signature policy” without facing a “grueling battle” in Washington.

On Wednesday, NBC’s Today and CBS This Morning both hailed liberal protesters “sounding off” at congressional town hall meetings “to put the breaks on President Trump's agenda” and giving Republican lawmakers an “earful.” In 2009, the same networks warned similar public meetings were “getting out of hand” when “unruly” Tea Party demonstrators spoke out against the Obama administration.   

Friday’s “big three” network evening newscasts showed no remorse when it came to Republican members of Congress being shouted down and blasted by angry, liberal protesters, gushing over how the GOP is “feeling the wrath” of “demonstrators flooding” their events. On Thursday, both NBC’s Today and ABC’s Good Morning America gleefully touted a new “rallying cry” among Democrats and liberal activists in the wake of Republicans admonishing Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren for attacking Attorney General Jeff Sessions on the Senate floor ahead of his confirmation vote.

All three networks on Wednesday sympathized with Elizabeth Warren, lamenting that the uncivil Republicans on Capitol Hill “silenced” her as things got “nasty.” ABC, CBS and NBC focused less on the Democratic Senator’s smear that Republican Jeff Sessions is a racist and more on the affront against Warren being cut-off mid-speech. 

Before Vice President Mike Pence delivered the tie-breaking vote in the Senate to confirm President Trump’s Education Secretary nominee Betsy DeVos during the noon ET hour on Tuesday, all three network morning shows heralded Democratic senators pulling an “all-nighter” in an attempt to obstruct her confirmation.

NBC and ABC on Wednesday danced around explicitly explaining that liberal Democrats like Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer previously supported Neil Gorsuch when he was up for an appeals court judgeship. Only CBS This Morning went beyond the bland notation of the now-Supreme Court nominee’s “unanimous” approval.

Tuesday’s network morning shows cheered a statement from former President Obama blasting President Trump’s executive action on immigration and praising leftist protesters taking to the streets. On Tuesday, the network morning shows were thrilled by the prospect of Democratic lawmakers testifying against Attorney General nominee Jeff Sessions during the confirmation hearing for the Donald Trump cabinet pick. However, none of the broadcasts bothered to recall that those same Democrats once eagerly worked with the Alabama senator on civil rights issues.

After hyping fears on Tuesday that congressional Republicans were preparing to “gut” a House ethics panel, on Wednesday, all three network morning shows delighted in the GOP reversing course on the issue and satisfyingly proclaimed that the minor controversy had tarnished the first day of the 115th Congress.
