Wrapping up her live interview with former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley on Tuesday, Today show host Savannah Guthrie grilled her guest on President Trump’s “fitness” for office and “mental acuity.” Despite Haley vouching for Trump’s ability to handle the job, Guthrie repeatedly pressed the issue.

After Monday’s network morning shows all accepted Democratic assertions that “there’s no reason to question Hunter Biden” in public impeachment hearings, during a live interview on Tuesday’s Today show, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley pushed back on that claim and told NBC anchor Savannah Guthrie: “...you have to look at Biden.”

On Tuesday, one year out from the 2020 presidential election, NBC’s Today show fretted over polls showing some of the Democratic frontrunners struggling to defeat President Trump in several key battleground states. The discussion focused on concerns that Democrats were “overconfident” about their electoral chances and even “distracted by all the impeachment” efforts against Trump.

On Friday, both NBC’s Today show and CBS This Morning labeled Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s decision not to censor political speech on the social network as “controversial.” The coverage emphasized that 2020 Democratic candidates were particularly upset by move, after trying to pressure Facebook into banning ads from the President Trump’s reelection campaign.

Appearing on NBC’s Today show on Monday, New York Times columnist James B. Stewart hawked his new book, Deep State, by hailing bureaucrats undermining the Trump administration as noble public servants “protecting the Constitution” and the American people from the President. He denounced any criticism of the “deep state” as “very dangerous.”

Taking a page from the playbook of Democratic House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff, on Monday’s Today show, NBC News national security analyst and former Obama administration official Jeremy Bash fabricated quotes from President Trump in an attempt to bolster the case for impeachment.

During an interview with former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Wednesday, Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie pressed her guest on whether Russia “elected Donald Trump.” In response, Rice ripped apart the notion and lectured the NBC anchor: “I really don’t think that’s a good conversation to have.”

On Monday, both NBC’s Today show and CBS This Morning marked the two-year anniversary of the #MeToo movement by interviewing the New York Times reporters who broke the Harvey Weinstein story in the fall of 2017. However, missing from the coverage was any mention of the scandals that hit both networks just weeks following Weinstein, with the firings of Matt Lauer and Charlie Rose.  

The Daily Caller posted new video today of the lawyer for Christine Blasey Ford saying that putting “an asterisk next to” Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s name before “he takes a scalpel” to Roe v. Wade was “part of what motivated” Ford to speak out and accuse Kavanaugh of sexual assault. 

As Apple plans to launch its new streaming service this fall, the tech company released a new trailer for one of the flagship series that will be featured on Apple TV+. The Morning Show depicts a fictional network broadcast being thrown into turmoil following the firing of a longtime anchor over allegations of sexual misconduct. Appearing on NBC’s Today show Thursday morning, CNBC Mad Money host Jim Cramer was the voice of calm, telling his colleagues to “dial back the hysteria” over the economy and reassuring viewers that “the markets are up huge.” He called out those in the press, including NBC, that were “sowing panic” about the possibility of a future recession.

In the latest freak-out over climate change, on Thursday, all three broadcast networks warned of a new “alarming” United Nations report predicting threats to the global food supply and practically demanded that people become vegetarians to reduce methane emissions by cows. The coverage might as well have been delivered by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Returning to NBC’s Today show Thursday morning to react to night two of CNN’s Democratic debate, political analyst and former Senator Claire McCaskill provided a blunt assessment of expansive field of 2020 contenders, suggesting it was time to “get rid of” some of them and “begin to focus” on the top tier of presidential candidates.

Reacting to night one of CNN’s Democratic debate, on Wednesday’s Today show, NBC News political analysts and former Senator Claire McCaskill was relieved that the radical health care plans advocated by Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders were hammered by their fellow 2020 candidates. McCaskill also completely rejected any possibility of such extreme proposals ever becoming law.
