The journalists at CBS This Morning on Monday waved goodbye to Pete Buttigieg’s 2020 campaign with one last disingenuous claim that the liberal Democrat is a “moderate.” This weekend, all three networks cheered mysterious “moderate” alternatives to Bernie Sanders. Apparently, all you have to do to be a centrist is simply not take a vacation to the Soviet Union. 

At the opening of Wednesday’s CBS This Morning, co-host Anthony Mason touted a new poll conducted by the network immediately following Tuesday night’s chaotic Democratic Debate. The survey of “Democratic debate watchers” found that 47% felt “nervous” about the field of 2020 candidates after watching the free-for-all.

Arguably, the biggest takeaway from the Democratic debate on Tuesday was that CBS News didn’t know how to moderate. CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell and This Morning co-host Gayle King had almost no control as the debate would often descend into a cacophony of shrieking candidates. Perhaps the reason why Monday’s network morning shows only spent a combined 74 seconds discussing socialist Senator Bernie Sanders singing the praises of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro was because journalists on NBC, ABC, and CBS knew full well that they had provided even more effusive commentary on the communist autocrat.

CBS contributor and former Univision anchor Maria Elena Salinas once again displayed her penchant for portraying immigration as the top priority for the eternally discriminated (in her view) Latino voters in the United States, bolstering her claim with the results of a Univision and Latino Decisions poll. 

All three network morning shows on Thursday ripped into Michael Bloomberg’s Democratic debate debut, hammering the “universally bad” night as possibly a “knockout punch” for the former New York Mayor. ABC even suggested it would have been better if Bloomberg never qualified for the debate. 

The NBC, ABC, and CBS morning shows on Tuesday all excitedly cheered the news that Amazon CEO and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos would devote billions of dollars to fighting climate change. The networks also made sure to point out that Bezos was bowing to pressure from left-wing climate activists working at Amazon.

On Monday, the network morning shows predictably all seized on an open letter from former Justice Department officials demanding the resignation of Attorney General William Barr. However, the broadcasts conveniently left out the fact that several of the ex-DOJ employees who signed on to the letter currently serve as professional anti-Trump pundits on CNN and MSNBC.

Allegations of sexism and inappropriate remarks are swirling around the rising 2020 campaign of Michael Bloomberg. But CBS is skimping on the details — including how the businessman allegedly made gross insinuations about women and oral sex and may have told a pregnant employee to “kill it,” in regard to her unborn child. CBS This Morning co-host Tony Dokoupil on Friday played strategist for Bernie Sanders. Dokoupil suggested that the socialist Sanders just stop calling himself a socialist. He didn’t advise  the 2020 candidate to stop being a socialist, just to maybe not call himself that. Turning into a PR agent, Dokoupil “You have got this label stuck to you, socialist." 

An unlikely source threw cold water on the Democratic effort (backed by the liberal media) to label all non-Bernie Sanders candidates as “moderates” or centrists. Former adviser to Barack Obama Valerie Jarrett appeared on CBS This Morning, Thursday and responded to these talking points from co-host Tony Dokoupil. According to Jarrett, there's barely any difference” between the Democrats. 

In a report for Tuesday’s CBS This Morning, co-host Tony Dokoupil went ice fishing with two New Hampshire voters, one Republican, one Democrat. Amid discussing the state’s upcoming primary, Dokoupil couldn’t resist using the mild weather to bring up climate change. He was promptly mocked by the GOP voter.

During the 2020 Democratic primaries, CBS This Morning journalists have repeatedly spun several of the candidates as “moderates.” (With the exception of socialist Bernie Sanders.
