There is going soft on Democrats, and then there's just embarrassing. On Monday's New Day, CNN anchor John Berman repeated Jill Biden back to herself that "Hunter is the heart and soul" of the Bidens. He never mentioned the word "Burisma" or "Ukraine," and definitely didn't explore the "heart and soul" and his drug problems and egregious sexual misbehavior.

On New Day, angst-filled CNN political commentator John Avlon asks, "will the headline be: Lamar Alexander saves the republic, or saves the Republican party?" In other words, the republic will be lost if Alexander votes against witnesses. 

On New Day, CNN "senior political analyst" John Avlon offers the preposterous proposition that John Bolton's prospective testimony at the impeachment trial would be "the equivalent of Nixon's smoking gun tape." 

Friday morning on CNN’s New Day, co-anchors John Berman and Alisyn Camerota spent at least two segments attacking Republicans as high school children that weren't taking the Senate impeachment trial "seriously." The co-hosts even hyped how the Senators could be thrown “in the slammer” over their behavior.

The impeachment trial of President Trump has only been underway for a couple of days, and already one of the liberals reporting for the ratings-challenged CNN channel is criticizing members of the Senate for not paying sufficient attention to the speeches made by the Democratic managers from the House of Representatives. In appearances on both MSNBC's Morning Joe and CNN's New Day today, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer repeatedly accused Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of going along with an alleged "coverup" by President Trump of the impeachment trial, "hook, line, and sinker."
