MSNBC’s Hardball featured not one or two particularly crazy moments in Thursday night’s installment by host Chris Matthews, but rather a whole host of notable exchanges, insinuations, and quotes from both Matthews and a few of his guests. Without any further adieu, here’s the top eight loony moments (presented in chronological order).   

Almost anything that airs on the Kremlin-backed Russia Today makes for interesting fodder and Wednesday night was no different as former MSNBC host Ed Schultz lashed out at the “stupid” “mainstream media” for selling out to Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s claim that Bernie Sanders supporters incited “violence” at a Nevada convention last weekend.

Ed Schultz has been at the helm of a 30-minute news program on the Kremlin-backed Russia Today for roughly two months and on Thursday night’s edition, the far-left pundit broke ranks to interview a Democratic congressional candidate in Nevada who was reportedly told by Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid that he’d be unable to win because he’s Muslim.

On Thursday night’s Politicking with Larry King, the liberal pundit asked West Wing actor Richard Schiff what he thought about Donald Trump and his popularity. After discussing how Trump was a larger-than-life character like Citizen Kane, King asked Schiff: “Do you think it’s Fox News and the right-wing that created Trump?”

ABC's morning and evening newscasts, as of Friday evening, have yet to cover the Thursday announcement by Washington, D.C. law enforcement officials that Mikhail Lesin, a former advisor to Russian President Vladimir Putin, died in November 2015 of "blunt force injuries of the head." After bellowing on demand for several years at MSNBC, America's version of the Russia Today television network, Ed Schultz starts work at the actual RT next week.  But following his fair and balanced commentary about Donald Trump on last night's Alan Colmes radio show, Schultz might just as easily fit in at Fox News.  

The obvious joke is it's a lateral move from Air America radio and MSNBC to a Kremlin-backed show for Russia Today. Lord of the Rings and X-Men star Ian McKellen on Wednesday asserted that Islamic terrorists have a “legitimate complaint” about the west. Appearing on Larry King Now, the actor discussed the “dreadful” murder of 130 people in Paris. Notorious propaganda outfit Russia Today is running commercials bashing the media for being too cozy with power? No, really. In an ad airing on RT’s Policking With Larry King, journalist Erin Ade promoted the network: “When politicians and the mainstream media work side-by-side, the joke is actually on you. At RT News, we have a different approach.” 

Liberal actor Robert Redford slammed global warming skeptics as simply “afraid of change” and hit Barack Obama from the left, Tuesday, in an interview with Larry King.
