Gore Hardest Hit: 'Car of the Future' to Have Combustion Engine

January 31st, 2015 11:51 PM
At the recent meeting of the world's elites in Davos, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and former Mexican President Felipe Calderon circulated a proposal to ban cars in all major cities in the world by dense-packing their layouts. The cost, as I noted on Monday: a mere $90 trillion (that's right, trillion). It's telling in a foreboding sense that the pair's idea wasn't laughed off the continent…

Time Posts Lament on 'Everyday Sexism' of Women's Public Toilet Lines

January 8th, 2015 5:23 PM
Proving once again that the personal is very political, Time magazine posted an article headlined “The Everyday Sexism of Women Waiting in Public Toilet Lines: Long lines for women's restrooms are the result of a history that favors men’s bodies.” Feminist genius Soraya Chemaly found that long lines at women’s restrooms aren’t merely a reality. They’re a conscious conspiracy against the sit-down…

Time Hailed 'The Ferguson Protesters,' But Saw Doom for the Tea Party

December 15th, 2014 9:12 PM
The year-end issue of Time magazine includes an enormous article on “The Ebola Fighters,” their Persons of the Year, but there are also five pages on “The Ferguson Protesters: Their refusal to let a life be forgotten turned a local shooting into a national movement.” Four years ago, Time made “The Tea Party” a runner-up, but they were projected to fall apart. The headline was “The grass-roots…

TIME's 'Person of the Year' Angers Supporters of Ferguson Protesters

December 10th, 2014 6:27 PM
Every December, the people at TIME magazine choose the “Person of the Year,” who is described as “the person or persons who most affected the news and our lives, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year.” Two of the candidates for the 2014 honor were: the Ferguson, Missouri, protesters, “who took to the streets ... following the fatal shooting of an unarmed black 18-year-…

After Volokh Critique, Time Pulls Writer's Swipes at Breitbart's Nolte

December 10th, 2014 11:58 AM

Yesterday at 4:11 p.m. ET, Eugene Volokh at the Washington Post's Volokh Conspiracy blog sharply criticized Time.com's Eliza Berman for not being "quite fair" — i.e., being quite unfair, given the author's penchant for understatement — to Breitbart.com's John Nolte, the reporter who investigated the veracity of Lena Dunham's detailed claims about and descriptions of her alleged Oberlin College…

Piers Morgan: Ferguson Protesters Should Be Time 'Person of the Year'

December 8th, 2014 12:13 PM
Appearing on Monday's NBC Today, ex-CNN host Piers Morgan called on Time magazine to name the Ferguson protesters as the publication's "Person of the Year" for 2014: "If you ask me what has been the single biggest issue facing Americans right now in this country, it is the whole issue surrounding what happened there....Everyone's got to come together and say we are simply better than this."

Time Contributor: Abolish Frats Because...Slavery, or Something

December 3rd, 2014 5:29 PM
Andrew Lohse is entitled to hacking out an embarrassingly poorly-argued, simplistic screed. But it is curious that editors at Time magazine chose to publish it. When you boil it down, Lohse essentially argues that fraternities are beyond the pale and must be abolished because of their genesis in the antebellum South.

MRC's Notable Quotables: No Charges in Ferguson = Grand Jury 'Failure'

December 1st, 2014 8:44 AM
After the grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri, chooses not to indict police officer Darren Wilson, NBC's Brian Williams dubs them "a failure," while as rioters burn buildings in Ferguson, Time magazine posts an essay: "In Defense of Rioting."

Melinda Gates Lies to Time: Our Foundation Doesn't Fund Abortion

November 30th, 2014 9:56 PM
Melinda Gates is the ideal philanthropist in the eyes of the liberals at Time magazine – after all, she and her husband Bill Gates became Time’s Persons of the Year...about the same time they gave Time money for a health summit. Anyhow, Melinda was recently honored with the “Ten Questions” interview  with Belinda Luscombe in Time’s December 1 and 8 issue. They promoted “The philanthropist on the…

'Ferguson Protesters' on Fire! Winning Time 'Person of the Year' Poll

November 30th, 2014 8:43 AM
The staff at Time magazine is aglow that the “Ferguson protesters” are now leading their online poll for “Person of the Year.” They oozed that "The protests over the grand jury decision this week have captivated international attention."

Time Touts 'Advocate and Agitator' Jorge Ramos as 'America's Anchor'

November 24th, 2014 3:57 PM
In the December 1 issue of Time magazine, reporter Michael Scherer promoted Univision anchor Jorge Ramos as "America's news anchor." Scherer allowed that the host "is not just a newscaster but also an advocate and agitator." Yet, his 2410 word story hyped this decidedly liberal style.

25 Years After the Berlin Wall, How the Media Covered Communism

November 8th, 2014 2:11 PM
Twenty-five years ago, the largely peaceful revolutions of 1989 — epitomized by the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9 of that year — ended the grip of communism in Eastern Europe. Looking back at journalism’s track record on communism, one finds a press that was too willing to act as a mouthpiece for the world’s worst dictatorships, and too accepting of the perverse claim that communism meant…

Joe Klein Goofed on End of 'Extreme Supply-Side Economics' in Kansas

November 7th, 2014 8:13 PM
On the eve of the midterms, Time’s Joe Klein listed “5 Things to Watch for in the Midterm Elections.” But the funniest one was number three. He titled it “Kansas Rejoins The Mainstream.” Klein gleefully foresaw that in the defeat of Gov. Sam Brownback, “the myth of extreme supply-side economics might finally be put to rest.” But Brownback won, 50 to 46 percent. The grip of voodoo Reaganism…

Lesbian Actress Bashes ‘Creepy Christians, Conservatives' On Subway

November 5th, 2014 10:43 AM
If there was ever a clear-cut example of the blatant bias the media shows to favor homosexuals and demonize Christians, this would be it. One of the stars of Amazon’s streaming television show “Orange is the new black” had it out in a shouting match with a preacher on the New York City subway Tuesday morning. The video was uploaded last night and has gone viral, thanks no doubt to the media’s…
