In the aftermath of Monday’s Fourth of July shooting in Highland Park, Illinois that left six dead and dozens hurt, CBS Mornings and NBC’s Today partnered Tuesday with Mayor Nancy Rotering (D) as the latter called for the discussion of the suspect’s disturbing social media history (and thus the missed warning signs) “to be diminished” and instead focus on banning “weapons of war.”

As pro-abortion radicals rioted and attacked pro-lifers in the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Roe vs. Wade, the network newscasts mostly looked the other way. They offered scant coverage and repeatedly insisted that the last several days have been “mostly” or “largely” peaceful. 

All three morning shows on Saturday erupted at Friday’s historic overturning of Roe vs. Wade, donating much coverage to the “shockwaves” sent across the country. But it was NBC that highlighted the ugliest sentiment, lingering on a pro-abortion protest poster reading: “[Clarence] Thomas is a treasonous turd.”  

On Wednesday morning, ABC, CBS, and NBC chose to do something it’s only occasionally done in mentioning President Biden during their coverage of the porous economy. But, as one would expect, they absolved him of blame and instead commiserated with the “frustrated” President as he’s “[felt] the heat” from voters while “pointing fingers at” Republicans and “tout[ing] his economic agenda.”
