Oh, so NOW they care about abortion? This week, there were several big examples of Democratic extremism on abortion. Yet, the networks all ignored them. But on Friday, CBS and NBC both covered Florida passing a 15 week ban on abortion, fretting about it being too severe. 

As part of his book tour, former Attorney General Bill Barr joined NBC’s Lester Holt for an exclusive sit-down interview that was aired on Friday’s NBC Nightly News and the Saturday edition of Today. During the interview, Holt unsuccessfully attempted to get Barr to agree with him that systemic bias and racism exist in American policing.

On Friday, NBC’s Today show went after Republican Senator Lindsey Graham for urging Russians to rise up and “take out” brutal dictator Vladimir Putin. The broadcast scolded the South Carolina lawmaker for his “controversial call” and even quoted propaganda from Putin’s regime denouncing the comment.  

Early Friday, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s stooges in parliament (known as the Duma) passed a law criminalizing accurate reporting about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with a possible sentence of 15 years in jail. When it came to this actual and genuine attack on free, independent journalism, NBC’s Today omitted it from their Friday morning show.

Appearing on NBC’s Today show Wednesday morning, Ukrainian parliament member Oleksandra Ustinova slammed President Biden’s State of the Union address as “a total disappointment” in the midst of her country being “executed” by Russian forces. In addition to pleading for a NATO-enforced no-fly zone over Ukraine, Ustinova also demanded “real sanctions” against Russia and Putin.

Reacting Wednesday to President Biden’s State of the Union address from the night prior, the broadcast network mornings newscasts on ABC, CBS, and NBC largely decided to play White House stenographers in touting Biden’s “call[s] for unity” and focus “on common ground and not...partisanship.” It resulted, one network said, in cheers that were akin to American unity after 9/11.

On the Saturday edition of Today on NBC, political contributor and PBS Washington Week host Yamiche Alcindor reacted to the news of Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court with excitement that Democratic activists will have another voice on the Court, but lamented that her ability to actually bring change is limited.

The network newscasts on Thursday morning parroted Biden talking points when it comes to the President’s handling of the escalating Ukranian crisis. None of them questioned Joe Biden’s control of a situation that seems to be spiraling out of control. Instead, NBC assured Americans that the Democrat is “sensitive” to ramifications like sky high gas prices. 

On Wednesday, NBC’s Today show brought on former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul to discuss the Russian invasion of Ukraine and heap praise on President Biden’s failed foreign policy. Given McFaul’s diplomatic tenure in Moscow occurred during the Obama administration and ended just prior to Vladimir Putin’s initial 2014 invasion of Ukraine, perhaps he wasn’t the best person…

In the morning after Russian President Vladimir Putin all but annexed two Ukrainian provinces, the major broadcast network newscasts largely chose Tuesday to absolve President Biden and his team for Putin feeling emboldened to take another step in what he views as reclaiming the old Russian empire.

On Wednesday’s CBS Mornings and Thursday’s NBC Today show, hosts fretted over mask mandates being lifted across the country as COVID numbers sharply decline. Jittery anchors feared that the easing of pandemic restrictions “triggers” some people and even suggested they themselves might “wear a mask forever now” in certain settings, like public transportation.
