Some Cheese for Jorge Ramos’ Whine

No journalist that encourages activism, abandons neutrality and routinely spits out partisan talking points should expect to go unchallenged. That Ramos should chafe at this slightest bit of pushback suggests that the afflictor has indeed grown quite comfortable, and is now the power that needs to hear truth.

On Univision’s 'Al Punto,' the Border Is Secure

It turns out that former North Carolina Senator John Edwards was right and there are, in fact, two Americas. In one America, concerns over an unsecure border vis-à-vis potential ISIS threats and the spread of communicable disease are totally reasonable and given a fair hearing. In the other America (pun fully intended), a network news program ostensibly solely devoted to the preservation of Obama…

Se trata de la guatemalteca Gloria Álvarez, quien habló ante el primer Parlamento Iberoamericano de la Juventud, en…

From the Left, Univision Bashes Bush

Latino
February 3rd, 2015 5:57 PM
When Univision highlighted Bush’s speech in its nightly news broadcast, true to form, it focused solely on immigration. On top of that, out of all the content on immigration discussed by the former Governor, Univision’s sole focus was that Bush “suggested that undocumented immigrants be invited to leave the United States”.

NYT to GOP: Submit to Univision or Face Doom

The central premise of a recent New York Times article is simple enough: If only Republicans were to submit to Univision on immigration, then they may receive more favorable coverage that does not depict them to the network’s Hispanic viewership as hateful, racist, anti-immigrant monsters, and then they may have a chance to garner more of the Hispanic vote, with the blessing of the community’s…

English, Spanish Networks Ignore Senate Approval of Keystone Pipeline

January 29th, 2015 9:29 PM
The U.S. Senate took the step Thursday of approving the Keystone XL oil pipeline in a bipartisan fashion by a margin of 62-to-36, with nine Democrats joining 53 Republicans to pass it for the first time after failing to do so under the previous Congress.  When the major English and Spanish language networks aired their Thursday evening newscasts, however, the news of the bill’s passage was…

Univision’s Jorge Ramos Goes 'Full Gutierrez'

Latino
January 23rd, 2015 11:12 AM
There was much outrage and strong reaction upon release of the 2016 GOP presidential debate schedule and its exclusion of Univision. However, anchor Jorge Ramos’ recent concurrent articles on immigration prove the GOP’s point precisely, and render any further debate on the matter to little more than sound and fury that signifies nothing.

Univision’s Fernando Espuelas Doubles Down

A few days ago, we shined a light on Univision’s Fernando Espuelas. His on-air response, on the Univision America radio network, was quite interesting, to say the very least. Espuelas devoted his entire show (two hours broadcast from coast-to-coast!) to denouncing nameless, faceless “right-wing media organizations” and “Latinito” sell-outs who had the audacity to offer any critique of his…

Univision’s Unrelenting Obamacare Bias

December 16th, 2014 11:19 AM
Even liberal English language media have occasionally given in to some accurate reporting about the ongoing Obamacare disaster that continues to plague American families of all stripes and their health care. Unfortunately, that has largely not been the case at Spanish language media giant Univision.

Jorge Ramos casts a large shadow over Univision’s news operations, and is still held in high regard as a journalist among his peers and the audience he serves, notwithstanding recent exhortations to colleagues to drop the pretense of neutrality. Univision’s nationally syndicated radio operation - on the other hand - is dominated by a fiery leftist demagogue with no journalistic pretense, and no…
