In the morning after Russian President Vladimir Putin all but annexed two Ukrainian provinces, the major broadcast network newscasts largely chose Tuesday to absolve President Biden and his team for Putin feeling emboldened to take another step in what he views as reclaiming the old Russian empire.

On Tuesday's Morning Joe, even liberal co-host Mika Brzezinski sounded like a hawk on Ukraine. She approvingly cited foreign policy experts calling the Russian move into the eastern provinces an "invasion," and suggested the steps taken by Biden so far are "inadequate."

On Morning Joe, NBC international correspondent Keir Simmons, says that Putin is "not frightened" by Biden's threat of imposing "severe sanctions" should Russia invade Ukraine.

PBS's Christiane Amanpour welcomed Republican Indiana Senator Todd Young onto her late Monday night program to discuss if Republicans can credibly condemn the Chinese Communist Party on democracy and human rights while also censuring Reps. On Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough summoned up  sympathy, if not for the devil, at least for Vladimir Putin. Scarborough's argued that we need to respect Russia's need for secure borders, and that "Ukraine is a knife that cuts right into the heart of Russia!" He suggested that we consider how the US would feel if Russia signed a mutual security pact with Mexico.

With the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continuing to escalate, President Joe Biden had a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in which he was told by the Ukrainian leader to dial back the rhetoric of the possibility of an imminent invasion. As tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue to intensify on Tuesday, the liberal evening news broadcast networks have continued to cover the Biden administration's tough talk and threats towards Russia to help him look like he's handling it competently. Meanwhile, they're giving little airtime to congressional Republicans' criticisms that he's not doing enough and going it too slowly.

On CNN's Newsroom during their coverage of the ongoing border dispute between Russia and Ukraine, they quickly switched gears and slimed Fox News star Tucker Carlson and the entire Republican Party as having a "soft spot for Russia".

On CNN's New Day, pro-Biden hack John Harwood defended the President's disastrous press conference performance, including his questioning the legitimacy of the midterm elections and his comment about a "minor incursion" into Ukraine ordered by Putin not meriting a full-blown US response.

For the second night in a row, Thursday, the liberal networks' nightly news newscasts all piled on Biden for his dumpster fire of a press conference from Wednesday afternoon, as well as his overall tenure in office. One of the networks even claimed Biden and the White House were in "damage control mode."
