Despite promising that correspondent Oprah Winfrey was “stepping away” from the network due to her active campaigning for Democrats, CBS allowed Winfrey back on This Morning, Wednesday, to promote Michelle Obama’s new book. In total, Democrat Winfrey and Democratic donor/co-host Gayle King have devoted 22 minutes and 44 seconds to the former First Lady’s new book, Becoming. 

Just 12 days after CBS correspondent Oprah Winfrey “stepped away” to campaign for Democrat Stacey Abrams in Georgia, Winfrey is back on the network and you’ll never guess what she’s doing: Praising a Democrat. Winfrey’s best friend, Gayle King, introduced Oprah on Monday, to reveal the next book club selection: Michelle Obama’s new autobiography. 

CBS This Morning co-hosts on Monday fawned over the new president of Planned Parenthood, cheering “yay!” that she appeared on the show. The hosts also lamented that the organization, responsible for three million abortions, had been “politicized.” The journalists also allowed Dr. Leana Wen to repeat the mostly bogus claim that the abortion provider offers “cancer screenings.” 

All three networks worried about the “fate” of the Mueller investigation with news that Attorney General Jeff Sessions was fired yesterday. On Thursday’s morning news programs, anchors and reporters tore into his replacement as acting AG, Matthew Whitaker, for comments he has made in the past criticizing the Mueller investigation. When it came to the major broadcast networks and their midterm election coverage, CBS didn’t pan out to have quite the bias the ABC and NBC offered, but there was still one journalist who came through in the clutch with plenty of liberal bias and that was, of course, CBS This Morning co-host and Obama donor Gayle King.

Within moments of the broadcast networks coming on the air Tuesday night with their midterm coverage, ABC, CBS, and NBC had the long knives out for Republicans, condemning their “nativist,” “white-hot rhetoric” creating “one of the most divisive midterms in our lifetime” that was marred by “hate, violence and tragedy.”

Now that Oprah Winfrey is once again off campaigning for Democrats, CBS on Thursday announced that the 60 Minutes contributor will be “stepping away” from her role at the network. At least for now. On Monday, the focus of midterm election coverage on all three network morning shows was cheering on pop star Taylor Swift “as she uses her voice to venture into the political fray” by endorsing Democrats in her home state of Tennessee. Anchors and reporters gushed over the singer finally using her influence to push a liberal agenda after having “avoided politics in the past.”
