Of course the media develops romantic feelings for anyone willing to publicly disagree with President Trump. Remember the women of The View swooning over “Creepy Porn Lawyer” Michael Avenatti because he was talking trash about Trump? Well now Hollywood has succumbed to the same gushy romance in their own way, giving Brad Pitt an Emmy nod for his SNL portrayal of everyone’s beloved immunologist Dr. Anthony Fauci.
2020 Emmy Nominations were announced on July 28 and it came as no surprise to anyone familiar with the media’s Covid strategy, part of which involved pitting the opinions of reckless Covid enabler Donald Trump against the often fickle – yet still somehow trustworthy – Dr. Fauci, that a program showcasing Fauci would get nominated for a major Hollywood award.
Brad Pitt received the Emmy nod for “outstanding actor for a comedy series” on Tuesday for his portrayal of the good doctor and White House Chinese Virus Task Force member Anthony Fauci. Of course, the whole thing was a puff piece from the very beginning for the doctor, who himself unofficially prompted the SNL skit by telling CNN which actor he would have liked to stand in for him for the inevitable sketch comedy rendition of the White House’s coronavirus chaos.
That’s how much of a rockstar the good doctor with a (sometimes) mask fetish really has become. Despite all the media hysteria over Covid at the height of the crisis, they had time to slow down and ask him how he would like that royal treatment.
The 3-minute “cold open” showcased Brad Pitt wearing glasses, a suit & tie, a grey wig to copy Fauci’s look. Sitting behind a desk with his hands folded, the actor spoke about mock China Virus updates in Fauci’s distinctive Brooklyn accent. “Good evening, I’m Doctor Anthony Fauci,” Pitt began, and then made a joke about his celebrity status with the older female demographic, a nod to the fact that in reality people love this man a little too much.
“First I’d like to thank all the older women in America that have sent me supportive, inspiring, and sometimes graphic emails.” Cute. Though if you’ve seen Fauci’s recent InStyle Magazine photoshoot, you might be wondering whether those glamour shots of the real-life good doctor have elicited some interesting responses.
Either way, Pitt’s Fauci didn’t skip a beat and went right into talking about how bad the president’s been handling coronavirus. He stated, “There’s a lot of misinformation out there about the virus, and yes, the president has taken some liberties with our guidelines.” Fake Fauci then cycled through a bunch of over-the-top Trump quotes regarding the virus to make him look like an idiot.
Of course, even though Trump and Fauci are trying to solve the same apocalyptic issue, the media love pitting them against one another. Fauci represents “science”– well in the sense that science is this monolith that only supports leftist viewpoints – and even if his own leadership and pointers have been inconsistent, any different approach he has to that of the president means he’s a hero and Trump’s dumb.
The Emmy is in the bag.
