"If this had involved a Bush administration official giving away that there was some big fraud perpetrated to help sell one of their big policy initiatives, it would have been huge news the second it broke," Media Research Center's Rich Noyes argued earlier today on the November 17 edition of Fox Business Network's Varney & Co. regarding the media's stunning lack of interest in ObamaCare architect Jonathan Gruber's remarks about the "stupidity of the American voter" being key to the passage of the controversial health-care overhaul.
"They would have been jumping all over it," Noyes noted, adding of Grubergate that outlets that have covered the story have deployed "a one-and-done" tactic -- briefly covering the story, often well after the controversial videos first surfaced -- because "they don't want to cover this story."
Indeed, Noyes told host Stuart Varney, NBC's Today show got around to the controversy today but failed to inform viewers that Gruber's "off-the-cuff" defense of his remarks is belied by the fact that he's made similar remarks on numerous occasions. "They want to help compartmentalize and cauterize this problem," Noyes concluded.
