On his Sunday show, CNN host Fareed Zakaria devoted the final segment to interviewing 15-year-old Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg, giving her an unchallenged forum to promote her alarmist views on global warming.
Thunberg -- who gained attenton by skipping school for three weeks to draw attention to her cause -- claimed that "climate change" is the "biggest crisis humanity has ever faced," and advised viewers to abstain from flying, eating meat and dairy, and receiving new merchandise as Christmas gifts, to avoid being "screwed" in the future.
At 10:50 a.m. Eastern, Zakaria introduced the segment by recalling that Thunberg had spoken at the annual COP24 conference in Poland because she "has decided to make it her life's mission to save the world from climate change." He then showed a clip of her as she "spoke truth to power" at the convention by telling them that her future children may wonder why people like them did not act against "climate change" when they had a chance to.
After noting that she had accused adults of not being "mature enough" so far to deal with environmental problems, the CNN host introduced her as he recounted that she had gained attention by refusing to go to school for three weeks so she could protest. He then served one softball after another inviting her to promote her views.
After she recalled that she had been inspired by the Parkland student activists to skip school to protest, Zakaria soon asked why she decided to become an activist, leading her to declare that "the climate crisis is the biggest crisis that humanity has ever faced, and, if we don't do anything right now, we're screwed."
After the CNN host asked her about what changes she had made in her behavior to set an example, she replied that she had stopped flying on planes, and eating meat and dairy. Thunberg also declared that she was abstaining from "buying new things," and that her parents wll not be giving her many Christmas gifts because she does not want any.
She ended up lecturing that young people should "hold the older generations accountable for the mess they have created and expect us to live with."
