ABC Finally Reports on Dems Violating Their Own COVID Rules...But Won't Call Them 'Democrats'!

December 4th, 2020 11:22 AM

After NewsBusters noted last night that the big three networks have refused to cover the many incidents of arrogant Democrat politicians disobeying their own coronavirus lockdown orders, ABC finally got around to reporting on the hypocrisy, this morning. Except the network refused to acknowledge to viewers these politicians were all Democrats.

Yes, ABC actually spent an entire report refusing to utter the word “Democrat” or even put it on screen, even though every example in their report was a Democrat. Co-anchor Cecilia Vega simply described the outrageous hypocrisy as “some politicians behaving badly.”

Correspondent T.J. Holmes spent the majority of his report focused on Steve Alder, Democrat Mayor of Austin, Texas telling his constituents to not travel for Thanksgiving while he himself was vacationing in Mexico:

“Growing outrage this morning over one Texas politician's decision to defy his own advice to stay home. As COVID-19 cases rise across the country Austin mayor Steve Adler has urged residents not to travel,” Holmes noted, adding:

Turns out he sent that message not from home, but while vacationing with his family in Cabo San Lucas. He and his family traveled to Mexico following his daughter's wedding in Austin. While this all happened last month, the trip was only learned about earlier this week. The mayor issued this apology Wednesday.

Holmes went on to compare the actions to a Simpsons episode and highlight an angry soundbite from one Austin teacher who is immune compromised. He finished his report highlighting a story ABC refused to cover when it broke weeks ago, how California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom attended a large maskless indoor party last month and only apologized after pictures came out. Holmes noted how Denver’s Mayor was also caught flouting his own rules, hopping on an airplane just thirty minutes after telling his constituents to stay home:

HOLMES: And Adler isn't the only one, California Governor Gavin Newsom called out for violating his own guidelines by attending a birthday party maskless and not social distancing….Denver's mayor Michael Hancock also apologized for jumping on a plane to Mississippi just 30 minutes after urging people not to travel for Thanksgiving. Later tweeting, I humbly ask you to forgive decisions borne out of my heart and not my head.

There were many other examples he left out of this report. Again, not once did ABC mention that it was exclusively Democrat leaders imposing harsh restrictions on their constituents while they arrogantly flout these rules to do whatever they want.

This bias by omission to protect Democrats was paid for by McDonald's and Xfinity. You can contact them at the Conservatives Fight Back page here.

Good Morning America

12/4/2020

7:11:47-7:14:31AM EST

CECILIA VEGA: OK George, we’re going to turn now to some politicians behaving badly. A case of do as I say, not as I do, so to speak, so the mayor of Austin is under fire right now after telling his constituents to stay home and then he went on a vacation to Mexico. T.J. Holmes is here with more. He’s not the only one there.

TJ HOLMES: Okay, Cecilia, let me be clear here. The Austin mayor didn't tell people to stay home and then go on vacation. He told people to stay home while he was on vacation chilling in Mexico. He's not the only one here, only politician who says to all of us do one thing then get caught doing another. Growing outrage this morning over one Texas politician's decision to defy his own advice to stay home. As COVID-19 cases rise across the country Austin mayor Steve Adler has urged residents not to travel.

STEVE ADLER: We need to, you know, stay home if you can. Do everything you can to to keep the numbers down. This is not the time to relax.

HOLMES: Turns out he sent that message not from home, but while vacationing with his family in Cabo San Lucas. He and his family traveled to Mexico following his daughter's wedding in Austin. While this all happened last month, the trip was only learned about earlier this week. The mayor issued this apology Wednesday.

ADLER: I regret that travel. I wouldn't travel now. It was a lapse in judgment. And I want you to know that I apologize.

HOLMES: Online the mayor met with anger and mockery.

SIMPSONS EPISODE: Now for an emergency announcement from the mayor.

HOLMES: With some pointing out like many things in 2020, the simpsons" also predicted this.

SIMPSONS EPISODE: Because of the pandemic, I will cancel my vacation to the Bahamas. I shall not leave the city, hey, you, get that steel drum out of the mayor's office.

HOLMES: For those who live or work in Austin like teacher Miranda Erlanson, the mayor's actions are nothing to laugh about.

TEACHER: I can't leave my home. My immune system is compromised. I'd like a vacation. I'd like a vacation from this nightmare.

HOLMES: And Adler isn't the only one, California governor Gavin Newsom called out for violating his own guidelines by attending a birthday party maskless and not social distancing.

NEWSOM: As soon as I sat down at the larger table I realized it was a little larger group than I had anticipated.

HOLMES: Denver's mayor Michael Hancock also apologized for jumping on a plane to Mississippi just 30 minutes after urging people not to travel for Thanksgiving. Later tweeting, I humbly ask you to forgive decisions borne out of my heart and not my head. And, guys, Austin, Texas, Travis county, while the mayor was on vacation the month of November their COVID cases quadrupled.

MICHAEL STRAHAN: Wow.
