John Cusack to Play Rush Limbaugh in New Film

When you think of liberal actor John Cusack, can you possibly see him playing the part of conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh?

According to Associated Press entertainment writer Lynn Elber, that's exactly what's going to be in theaters some time in the near future:

The working title is "Rush," Cusack's New Crime Productions confirmed, offering no other details.

Hollywood director Betty Thomas, who's set to work on the film, said the production company is putting finishing touches on a script that will star the actor. Production is set for next year, Thomas said.

Thomas should ring a bell to all you Hill Street Blues fans as the Emmy-winning actress who played Lucy Bates.

From there she moved into directing winning an Emmy for HBO's Dream On. She's also directed feature films such as "Private Parts" and "John Tucker Must Die."

As for Cusack, his success in teen hits "Sixteen Candles" and "One Crazy Summer" led to his breakout performance in "Say Anything."

From there came hits "Grosse Point Blank," "Con Air," and "Being John Malkovich."

As NewsBusters has reported, he's quite the lefty often blogging at the perilously liberal Huffington Post.

Cusack's so far to the left that he's even had some harsh comments for Barack Obama:

John Cusack Rips Obama From Left: 'Continued Imperial Presidency' of Bush

But mostly he likes to target Republicans:

As such, it seems a metaphysical certitude he's not intending to present Limbaugh in a positive light.

Stay tuned.
