For Matthews, A Major Award |
Well that's a tad over the top, is it not?
A newly formed conglomeration of thirty women calling themselves The New Agenda (TNA) have convened to "pool (their) talents and leverage already established 'riends of the family' organizations to launch a grass roots and grass tops effort to register women voters, organize a national 'get out the vote' effort around women's issues," so says Amy Siskind, a member speaking for the new gaggle.
But that's not all they intend to do. They want to rid the world of misogynistic males, and MSNBC's Chris Matthews is first on their hit parade.
From their declaration:
Although several names were put on a 'to do' list, Chris Matthews was our unanimous choice as the worst offender on women's issues, therefore the first person on whom we will focus. The kind of language he uses and the kind of behavior he exhibits in the public domain toward women objectifies them and leads to bad things for our society and to domestic violence.
That last bit is, again, a bit too far. As hopelessly biased and barely controlled as Matthews is, it's hard to paint him as a man creating an environ friendly to assault and battery of the fairer sex.
Siskind is a former Wall Street executive who served as a Hillary Clinton television flak during the Demcoratic primary, but she has not yet given up that last ghost. She has also formed Together4US, which is trying to put Clinton's name on the ballot at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
So perhaps TNA is an ajunct effort to among other things bash Matthews for what Hillary supporters deemed unfair coverage of their Girl vis a vis eventual Donkey winner Barack Obama. Matthews, after all, never once experienced a thrill or a chill in his leg in response to anything the New York Senator had to say.
