On her Wednesday show, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell spread misinformation by suggesting Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth opposes the existence of female military pilots, thereby disrespecting those women who have suffered greatly in service to their country. On Thursday, instead of issuing a correction, Mitchell doubled down and repeated the claim.

Ever since President-elect Donald Trump made the surprising announcement that he intends to nominate veteran and Fox News host Pete Hegseth to be Secretary of Defense, the media has tried to portray him as a troublesome right-wing culture warrior. However, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell took things one step further on Wednesday as she spread straight up fake news about Hegseth.

The passage of a few days to allow for more mature reflection after Election Day has not affected Washington Post associate editor Jonathan Capehart. On Friday’s PBS News Hour, Capehart attributed Donald Trump’s victory to “racism and sexism” and a list of other horribles that the country refuses to acknowledge.

She also suggested she wasn’t surprised by America’s sexism and racism and that the election “was a referendum of cultural resentment in this country.”
