Over and over again, we find "independent fact checkers" come rushing to President Biden's defense when he says something that sounds wacky. Spencer Brown at Townhall complained Friday that PolitiFact closely followed Team Biden in crying "missing context" on Biden saying they would make sure Americans are "paying their fair share for gas." What does that mean? 

On November 15, Rep. Cori Bush (radical D-Mo.) tweeted that “When we marched in Ferguson, white supremacists would hide behind a hill near where Michael Brown Jr. was murdered and shoot at us.” Where were the “Fact Checkers”? FactCheck.Org? No. The Washington Post? No. PolitiFact ignored it, although they posted two “False” ratings on Kevin McCarthy on November 19.

PolitiFact gets very defensive when Republicans attack the Biden administration. Attorney General Merrick Garland has zero fact checks from PolitiFact, ever. But on Monday, PolitiFact's Jon Greenberg gave Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) a "False" for an October 5 tweet about Garland's orders to investigate parents as potential violent criminals. 

At the blog Legal Insurrection, Stacey Matthews picked on PolitiFact for its incredibly lame Twitter criticism of Sen. Charles Grassley at a Wednesday Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on H.R. 4, which Democrats call the "John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act." The senator accurately noted polls show a strong majority of Americans favor voter ID laws.

In the last few years, Facebook has become Public Enemy #1 in the media’s imagination, and Mark Zuckerberg is suddenly the creepy James Bond villain. PolitiFact just can't avoid the chance to defend Joe Biden, even if the "facts" at hand are pretty much true. On August 23, Louis Jacobson threw a "Half True" at a Daily Wire meme on Facebook about Biden cancelling the Keystone pipeline out of Canada, and now we're importing Russian oil instead. How dare conservatives connect the two! 

Media Research Center President Brent Bozell, in conjunction with the Free Speech Alliance, joined 10 other conservative leaders in demanding the International Fact-Checking Network remove PolitiFact as a fact-checker for violating IFCN’s Code of Principles.

On the latest NewsBusters Podcast, we notice that the late-night "comedians" aren't willing to roast President Biden for the debacle in Afghanistan. In fact, NBC's Seth Meyers praised Biden as the "salty grandpa" who can tell us what we didn't want to hear, that all we needed to get out. Joseph Wulfsohn at Fox News pointed out that Conservative Twitter had a lot of fun with PolitiFact on Thursday when Bill McCarthy didn't see the double meaning in his tweet "PolitiFact is hiring! Come join our misinformation team."

PolitiFact’s aggressive defense of Biden and Harris popped up again on Friday. They tagged it as “False” for a Tik-Tok video that “Says Joe Biden and Kamala Harris distrusted COVID-19 vaccines.” The quotes in the video are all accurate, but they caused Facebook to flag the video as “Missing Context.” As in – the editing is too negative for their liking.

Here’s an easy test to see whether fact-checking websites can make any claim to be “independent” and nonpartisan in tone. Biden staffers claimed Republicans “defunded the police.” That’s a bald-faced lie.

PolitiFact has a partisan tendency to come running to Biden's defense, and  liberal tendency to "fact check" arguments about Democrats backing abortion in the third trimester. This happened again on Wednesday to Derrick Van Orden, a Republican congressional candidate in Wisconsin's 3rd congressional district who narrowly lost in 2020. On Tuesday, we saw yet another example of the buddy-buddy relationship between the liberal media and those they want to help work to elect. A day after Virginia’s Politifact published a takedown of a misleading ad from former Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe’s campaign against Republican Glenn Youngkin, the outlet retracted it Tuesday under the auspices of “a substantial omission.”

At their recent “United Facts of America Festival,” PolitiFact interviewed Sen. Mark Warner (D.-Va). Their executive director Aaron Sharockman began with some light humor, telling Warner he was one of the more accurate members of Congress. Sharockman complimented Warner for having zero "Pants on Fire" rated claims.
